CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR
Everyone went still and the only noise that could be heard was that of the crackling flames. Meredith felt suddenly blank not knowing what to feel or what to think. She tried to breathe deeply and as she turned to walk away, she saw Ace with something almost like a victory smirk on his face.
“Meredith,” Vivian called after her best friend.
“Just go back and have fun Vivian. I can’t stay here a moment longer,” she waved her friend off and got into her jeep driving home.
