29 Holly had never ridden in a helicopter of the 160th SOAR before. The regiment was the elite helicopter team of the entire US military. Five years of an exceptional flying record in the regular forces might garner a pilot an invitation to try out for their two-year advanced training program. The Black Hawk that Major Swift led them toward was, oddly, pure black. No big white Army star. Even warning signs, usually painted in shocking yellow or red to get attention, were a dark gray.
