(Nisha) The area was charred. Blackened trees stood a stark contrast to the green of the forest bathed in afternoon light beyond. “Goddess,” Cameron breathed. I could sense his unease and confusion, but I wasn’t sure how or why. It didn’t matter. I couldn’t think of anything that did right now. “What is it?” I begged him, tearing my glance away from the scene that I couldn't make sense of.
