(Rebecca's POV) I pull up to Sean's apartment at nine sharp. He answers the door before I knock. Jack is already dressed — jeans, sneakers, a t-shirt with a robot on it that I've never seen before. He's holding a small backpack he packed himself. Sean hands me a folded paper. I open it. Laminated. Color-coded. Jack's allergy card. Jack has no allergies. My thumb runs over the lamination. The corners are rounded. Professional. The kind of thing you make when you need something to do with your hands and your fear. Sean's eyes flick to mine. Away. I fold the card. Tuck it in my purse. "Have a good day, buddy," Sean says. "I WILL, Dad, it's the SCIENCE MUSEUM." Jack's voice fills the doorway. Sean's mouth twitches — not quite a smile, but close. "Back by five," I say. Sean nods.
