(Rebecca's POV) A beat. Just one. Then Luke laughs. Not a polite laugh. Not the controlled chuckle of a man managing a room. A real one — short, surprised, the kind that escapes before you can stop it. He takes off his reading glasses and looks at Hannah the way he used to look at lab reports that got the methodology backwards. Something breaks open in my chest. Not anger. Not shock. Something almost like relief — the kind you feel when a thing you've been carrying quietly for years gets named out loud in front of everyone. Eric's laugh follows a second later. Low, short, real. I try to hold mine back. My hand comes up to my mouth. But it's already out — not loud, not mocking, just the involuntary sound of someone who knows the truth and has just watched someone else claim it in a room
