The next day:
Cherry, Fiona, Nasir, and his mother walk with Daniel and me to the police station. At first, we tell the police about the attack on me, Cherry, and Daniel. After a short statement, the police officers do a quick research. Eventually, everyone except Daniel and me is escorted to a waiting room. They put Daniel and me into an interview room with see-through mirrors. We talk for a long time, seeing where this is headed and trying to stop it.
“I’m sorry, but I must report you as found to your pack,” the detective states, using a tone that tells me he is not sorry at all.
