I saw Tristan’s eyes close, and I stepped on the accelerator. The last thing I expected was for Tristan to use his healing powers on Landon, a vampire. But it took a lot out of him, and the result is pure exhaustion. The other part I was not expecting was him accepting me as part of his pup’s and River’s life.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I saw Gabriel, Tristan’s father, run down the stairs with his mate not far behind.
“What happened? Is he okay?” Gabriel asks. By the rapid flashing of his eyes I know he is trying to hold his wolf back.
“He’s fine. He’s just exhausted”, I told them. As if to back me up, Tristan opens his eyes and opens the door to the car.
