The soft chime of the bell above the door echoed through Matthews Couture as Emily stepped inside, her face lit up with excitement. I had seen her like this before, usually when she had big news or when she was about to dive headfirst into one of her ideas. Today, though, I knew exactly why she was here.
“Scarlett,” she called out, her voice excited and full of energy. “Are you ready to start designing the most perfect wedding dress in the history of wedding dresses?” I couldn’t help but laugh as I set down the clipboard, I had been using to review our latest line and gestured for her to follow me to the design studio in the back of the boutique.
“That’s a tall order, but for you? Always,” I remarked with warmth and joy. The studio had always been one of my favorite places
