The Gale mansion loomed in front of me, its stone facade both intimidating and magnificent against the gray winter sky. I tightened my scarf around my neck, as I looked up at the place. I took a deep breath and surged forward as I made my way up the stone steps. I wasn’t sure if this was a clever idea or not. It felt like a bad idea. But it also felt like a good idea. Either way, I was here to do it. Face to face with the front door, I pressed the doorbell. The chime echoed faintly and a few minutes later, the door swung open.
