I was barely paying any attention to the movie. I was distracted by the fact my phone had gone off several times against my leg, and by the fact, I wanted desperately to check what it said… and that I was really disappointed in myself for that and determined not to become the kind of person who was desperate to hear from some random guy I barely even knew.
Ten minutes passed, and I finally gave in and picked the phone up again.
Before I could check what it said, Brooke nudged my ribs hard with her elbow.
I was startled and looked at her wide-eyed, expecting her to tell me off for looking at my phone, even though she had no idea that I had responded to Blake.
