It was strange to see downtown San Jose in the evening when we had only been there twice during the day. It was bustling, and people were buzzing and excited to be out with their friends. The restaurants and bars were all lively and filled with people and I wasn’t quite sure I did want to stay downtown now we were amongst the crowds. The fact Blake’s brother had shown up an hour away from the city to give him some kind of hushed threat that he would not explain to me and Brooke had put me on edge. If his brother could follow us out there and ambush us like that there could be bad people waiting to catch me and Brooke out of the house like this, too. But Brooke didn’t seem to be worried, and I knew that she would have told Blake to take us home if she thought we were in any kind of danger
