New Zealand
Between 1410 and 1490 New Zealand South Island was devastated by fires and a tsunami. The island lies on a fault line so it could have been caused by a seismic event. There is also speculation that a comet hit Zheng’s fleet some two days sailing south of Auckland. Eighty Chinese wrecks have been discovered in three principal locations, the Caitlin’s on New Zealand’s south coast, further north towards Moroak and north again around the Banks Peninsula.
