Riley’s POV
Christian’s admission took me off guard. It was easy to tell that he was in love with his best friend, but I didn’t expect him to say what he did about me. I had never once considered that I might have a human mate, but the second I met Christian I knew that I could never want anyone else. I wasn’t sure he would feel the same way, but him saying that he does makes me feel so good on the inside.
After the words my first mate said to me before rejecting me, I didn’t think anyone would want me again. It took me a while before I got over it and I turned to human men to make myself happy again. Even though humans were usually very judgemental and rude toward people who were different from them, werewolves could sometimes be worse. Especially when someone like me is around.
