I’m dreaming. Course, I don’t know that when I’m inside the dream world. Dad’s here. We’re catching waves on boogie boards and riding them all the way to the beach. Mom is on the beach waving at us. She’s dressed in one of those oldie swimsuits, the ugly kind with a baggy skirt like Nana Belle wore. I’m wondering why Mom is wearing Nana’s suit when Dad screams. I look around, trying to find him, but now I’m inside a thick fog. Below are dark shapes moving in the water. Dad screams again somewhere in the fog and then I’m awake, the scream still echoing. There’s another scream. What the turkey? I’m in my bed, in the dark bedroom. Mom is in the other bed, but she’s getting up.
