“She looked so peaceful, just sitting there like she was watching the sun rise.” That’s what Aunt Rita keeps saying as we wait in a room in the hospital for the doctor to come and talk to us. We’ve been in here a long time. There’s no television or magazines so everyone just stares at the paintings hanging on the wall. I’m thinking that’s why they call it a waiting room; all we’ve been doing is waiting. I’m texting back and forth with Dad since we’re back on the mainland with cell reception.
