Henry Dominic was angry all throughout the day after discovering that Camila was pregnant.
He was furious and hadn’t stepped out of his room since he received the news.
"Alpha, Camila White's medical test results are out," his Beta, Kendrick Paul, informed him. Henry took the paper from Paul's hand, glanced through it, and saw that Camila was indeed three months pregnant.
"How can a young lady like her be pregnant? I thought she was too young and not yet mature enough to mate," Henry murmured. He could feel his wolf growling with rage internally, but he had to keep his cool.
Kendrick Paul looked surprised to see Henry angry about the news of the new foreigner’s pregnancy test result.
Kendrick thought that maybe Henry was angry because a young lady like her was loose, not suspecting that Henry had feelings for the foreigner.
They were hopeful that Henry would choose a mate soon or pick one during the upcoming Moon Dance Festival that would be in two months.
"I don't know what to say, Alpha, but you shouldn't let her waywardness anger you. Most young female wolves nowadays can’t think of anything else other than how to mate here in our packs. That’s the reason why we have so many teenage pregnancies. I think I should report this matter to your father, to mandate that 18-year-old she-wolves must wait until they turn 21 before they can mate. It’s difficult to differentiate between a teenager and an adult who is 18 years old," Kendrick said.
"Hmm... I don't think so, Kendrick. As long as they're with their mate, that’s all that matters. If they cannot wait to become fully mature adults, then they should be prepared to suffer the consequences and work to feed their babies. We won’t feed them, you know," Henry replied.
"Hmm, so should I leave now with this report and take it to your father?" Kendrick asked, holding up Camila's medical test report.
"Yes. You can leave," Henry dismissed him. He looked away from Kendrick as he finally left the sitting room.
Just then, the sitting room door pushed open again, and his mother walked in.
"Henry, what's wrong with you?" Luna Ruth asked, having noticed her son’s uneasiness since the Alpha's daughter of the Eastern Wood Pack had arrived in their pack house, and Henry having seen the young lady’s nakedness.
"Nothing, Mom. I am fine," Henry replied. He walked over to the sitting room bar, took out a wine bottle, and poured himself a drink to calm his nerves.
His mother said, "I thought you were angry about the new foreigner. You shouldn’t let trivial matters like that bother you."
"I know, Mom. But I am still the next Alpha of our pack. It amazes me to see that the young lady is truly pregnant, and she is probably the Alpha's daughter of the Eastern Wood Pack," Henry said.
He opened the red wine bottle and poured its contents into the wine glass he was holding, gulping it down in one go.
He asked his mother, "Care for some?"
"No, Henry," Luna Ruth replied as she walked over to a couch in the sitting room and sat down.
"Tell me, why don’t you believe that she’s the Alpha’s daughter? It’s strange that the Alpha of the Eastern Wood Pack would banish his own daughter, right?"
"Mother, I am not disputing her claim, but I cannot believe that Alpha Jackson White's daughter would be so loose and irresponsible as not to understand her father's principles. We don’t associate with their pack, but that doesn’t mean that as the Alpha heir, she should wander around freely like someone lacking proper upbringing."
Luna Ruth smiled; she perceived that her son sounded somewhat angry at the thought of the new foreigner's pregnancy. She smiled sadly, pleased to know that the young lady was pregnant and that Henry now detested the Alpha’s daughter.
"That's alright, son. You shouldn't be angry about her uselessness. It doesn’t matter to us whether she’s truly the Alpha's daughter or not. What matters are the tasks and work she will be summoned here to do," Luna Ruth stated.
"Here?" Henry's eyes widened in surprise. He didn’t want to see Camila. His mother stood up, smiling as she prepared to leave.
"Yes, Henry. Your sister Juliet said that she needs a maid. And you know that Juliet has found her mate and they will be blessed as a couple during this upcoming Moon Festival. You should be more concerned about finding your mate and let your father deal with all these Alpha problems," Luna said, turning her back to leave.
"I know, Mom. I am only learning from him and looking after our pack members too," Henry said as he poured another portion of the red wine into his glass. He refilled it and drank slowly.
He watched his mother walk away to the exit door. She paused as if she had forgotten something and said, "That reminds me, Henry. Why not try courting Victoria Elliott? She’s Juliet’s friend and hasn’t yet found her mate either. She’s mature and probably 19 years old."
"No, mother. I will wait for my true mate. I am hopeful that I will find her soon," Henry replied, sipping from his glass.
His mother sighed and agreed, "I hope you do. If not, I will ask your father to ordain Victoria as the next Luna of our pack. You know it’s still within my capability to choose a mate for you, rather than just waiting for you to find your mate alone. There are instances in our pack where werewolves who couldn’t find a mate had to choose either wolfless she-wolves who couldn’t perceive their mate’s scent, or they picked any random she-wolf to marry as their mate."
"Choose one? But surely it wouldn’t pass this upcoming full moon festival, which marks the beginning of a new year in our pack. I must go downstairs now for dinner with your father. I can see that you aren’t hungry. Take care, Henry," Luna said, pulling the door open to walk away.
"Okay, Mother," Henry replied, sighing heavily after she left him.
Henry looked at the wine glass he was holding and, after sighing again, decided to finish the entire bottle. As the son of the Alpha King, he had the power to withstand a high level of alcohol. He was strong and could not be easily broken.
Henry thought, "Why would Juliet choose a pregnant she-wolf as her servant? Hmph..."
He drank another full portion of the wine and soon emptied the bottle. He stood up from the couch, still wearing his white robe, and walked out from the top floor, heading downstairs as he wanted to inspect the pack.
If it were before, on weekends like this, he would have gone to the pack clubhouse to see if he could find any random female to service him, but none of that had happened.
Henry hadn’t felt the blood rushing to his member before; he only felt irritation. He wanted Camila, but knowing she was truly pregnant and had been touched by someone else, he knew she wasn’t his mate—likely a second-chance mate sent to him by the moon goddess.
Driving out from the Alpha's mansion, Henry made his way to the refugee house to inspect the area outside their pack, along the forest edges as well.
-----
Camila was still half awake in the room, and she could see the moonlight shining dimly into the slightly dark space through the open window.
There was no light, and she wondered what was happening outside the refugee house.
Camila sighed. She stared at the two ladies who had finally fallen asleep peacefully on the bed. The room had a gate door, and the guards on patrol could easily see her and the two other ladies inside.
Camila had seen guards come to inspect her. They noticed that she was awake, and calculating the time from the brightness of the moon and how silent the entire refugee house was, Camila realized it was already midnight.
