Chapter 2

1141 Words
I got up and took a shower. My doubts have returned and need to be cleared up, but this time I was determined to talk to Joe to find out if he was really interested or just playing around. I finished my shower, put on some tight pants, a loose blue tank top with white polka dots, and some blue Vans. It was 8 a.m. I went downstairs to have some cereal for breakfast. I finished my breakfast, but before heading to my room, I bumped into Joe in the living room, waiting for my brother since we were all going to school together. I noticed my backpack was next to him, so without saying anything, I just walked over and grabbed it. At that moment, Joe greeted me, and I got startled, but I pretended I hadn’t noticed and replied to his greeting. After that, I just left the house; I preferred to walk and think about how to talk to him without coming off as pathetic and without him thinking I was crazy about him. I arrived at school and, from a distance, I spotted my best friend, Monse. “Hi, Scarlet, I was waiting for you,” she said happily. “Why so happy?” Just then, the bell rang to enter classes. “I’ll tell you in a bit, come on, we’ll be late for class.” We ran straight to the classroom. When we entered, I looked at her, and she seemed super happy and a bit nervous. “Now you can tell me what’s going on.” “Yeah.” “Come on, you’ve got me curious.” “I’m in love.” “Who? What’s his name? What’s he like?” “Well, he already liked me, but I didn’t want to tell you because I didn’t know how you would react. So I hope you won’t be mad, but... I like your brother.” “What? My brother?” “Yeah, but shhh, don’t say it so loud.” “But when? How did that happen?” “Well, as I said, I already liked him, it’s just that I hadn’t told you. I really didn’t know how you would react, and, well, seeing him often really caught my attention. After that, I ended up liking him.” “Well, I’m happy for you. Why don’t you try talking to my brother more so you can get him interested, and then maybe he’ll like you back?” “It’s just that I’m embarrassed, you know me.” “You’re right.” *Good morning,* said the teacher upon entering. I turned around, sighed, and told myself that this day would be the most boring since we had literature for 2 hours. Two hours later, the recess bell rang... Monse and I ran out to be among the first to buy at the school shop since it usually got crowded. When we finished buying, we found a table to eat. Suddenly, my friend blushed upon seeing my brother approaching us. “Hey, little sister, don’t you have any money to lend me to complete my meal?” “No.” “Lend me some, beautiful and precious little sister.” “Are you serious? You’re saying all that just to get money, but really, brother, I don’t have any left.” “Monse, do you by any chance have money to lend me? I’ll pay you back tomorrow.” “Let me see.” —She was left in shock staring at her bag—. “Monse!” —I shouted. “Oh, yeah, I have some, wait.” —She replied nervously. Dan looked at us confused. “Yeah, I only have 30 pesos.” “Thanks, you’re a sweetheart.” Dan kissed us on the head and left. “I can’t believe it, he kissed me on the head,” she said excitedly. “I can’t believe how crazy you are for my brother.” We finished eating, spent 10 minutes chatting, and the bell rang again. We went back to class. Once in class, I just looked at my friend, lost in her thoughts because my brother had kissed her on the head, so I didn’t want to interrupt her since I hadn’t seen her like that in a long time. Hours went by and I saw my friend again, still in the clouds. Then the bell rang and I ran out of there because I wanted to leave. I got home and noticed that my brother hadn’t come back yet and my mom wasn’t home either. I went up to my room and saw the mess I had made from not knowing what clothes to choose that morning. Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. “Who is it?” “It’s Joe, can I come in?” “Yeah, sure, come in.” “Your room is a mess.” “Thanks,” I replied sarcastically. “Take a seat.” “Do you have a boyfriend?” “No,” I replied, a bit surprised. The silence became awkward. “What’s your favorite song?” “I don’t have a favorite. Is this a question and answer game?” “No, I just wanted to know. Would you like to get to know me?” “Maybe,” I replied mysteriously as I sat next to Joe. “I’m bored, what should we do?” It was 3 in the afternoon and we were home alone. “I don’t know, I didn’t have any plans.” “You decide. This is your house.” “p*****t, we’re not doing anything bad.” “Relax, I won’t, I don’t have any condoms.” “Haha, stupid.” “Then what should we do? Do you have something fun?” “I have an Xbox, Rubik’s cubes, and Twister.” “Let’s play Twister!” “Sure.” After a while of playing, we lay on the floor listening to music. “My body hurts.” “You were moving more than I was. I have to go; I hope this happens again.” “Me too.” “I had an amazing time; it has to happen again, right?” “Maybe,” I replied, puzzled. Joe opened the door and left. “What just happened?…” I sighed and lay down on my bed. Half an hour later, my phone rang. It was Mario. “Hello?” “Hey, what are you doing tomorrow?” “Nothing, why?” “Would you like to join me for a party?” “Yeah, sure. What time?” “I’ll pick you up at 8.” “Okay.” After dinner, I went up to my room and started watching movies. Hours passed until I fell asleep with the television on.
