Her sleep that night was far from restful. She only managed to nod off at all because she was sleep-deprived from the previous night and mentally exhausted on top of it, but the resulting slumber was shallow. Her mind insisted on being half-aware of her surroundings, and it felt like she was being jolted awake every five minutes for one reason or another. After finally sinking into a deeper sleep, a terrifying nightmare woke her up entirely.
