Freya’s POV I lost all hope of being with Ezren, even though he set the mark. Nothing came from it. I worked on the campaign and traveled a lot, a lot, like more than I wanted to. Tossing my suitcase onto my bed, I turned and hurried to the kitchen, smelling my favorite dish, dumplings and soup. When I entered the kitchen, Sue turned and smiled. I gave her a small wave and sat at the island and watched like I did as a child. “How is the campaign going?” she asked. “Fine, I guess. The polls say I’m doing good.” She glanced over her shoulder at me. “You look worn out.” “I am. Campaigning is harder than I thought it would be.” Sue laughed a deep belly laugh. And I smiled, energized by it. “What?” I shrugged. “Only you would think running for Alpha Queen would be easy.” I shrugged
