I stared at Damon in complete and utter surprise. If it hadn’t been for my mother and brother, I would believe I was in dreamland. Damon looked just as surprised to see me, which was strange since he was standing on my parents’ front porch.
“Damon?” I repeated as I pushed past my brother.
“Vanessa,” Damon whispered and the smile on his face was classic. His eyes shone with love and adoration, and I couldn’t believe I was looking at the same man.
“This is the guy that didn’t want to be in a relationship?” my mother asked Lance quietly. Except she wasn’t quiet enough because we could hear her, and Damon went even pinker in his face.
“Mom!” I groaned.
“What? He looks at you as if you have hung the moon and the stars,”
“Mom!” I repeated as I closed the distance between Damon a
