Vanessa Bookends was officially open, and I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched customers come into the store. It seemed as if every section was busy. Upstairs, in the loft, at the café, at the wine bar, and the books were selling like hotcakes. “Vanessa, we are so proud of you,” my mother said as she looked around. “This place is amazing,” “Thank you, Mom,” I said with a big smile. Last night’s little pregnancy scare had left me feeling out of sorts. Which was why I had been up early so that I could run to the pharmacy and renew my pill subscription. Damon was right.
