Ella POV
I was startled by Alexander's message, but I didn’t waste any time. I put my bathrobe on and quietly slipped down the stairs. Then I slipped my shoes on and went out the front door.
The moment the door clicked closed behind me, Alexander was there.
I jumped but managed not to make any sound. I put my hand over my heart, which was racing, and glared at him.
He motioned with his finger against his lips for me to be quiet. Then he lightly grabbed me by the arm and led me away from the house.
It was very late, and the night patrol had already started. I couldn't risk being seen sneaking around alone with Alexander. Luckily, he seemed to know this and easily avoided the patrols, as he led me far enough away from the house that there was no chance of my parents over
