Chapter 27

Claire “I can’t breathe!” Molly whizzed and I let her go with an apology. “You just don’t know your strength.” She took a gulp of air. “I thought you’re gonna kill me for a second!” “Oh Molly, never! why would you think that?” I asked as I held her by the shoulders. “Never mind! Come, tell me what you’ve been up to lately?” She pulled me back toward the bench. “Not much, really,” I shrugged. I felt my smile falter as I said that. I took a seat, but this time I was expecting the cold, so it didn’t surprise me like earlier. “I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. It was insensitive of me after what happened.” Molly said as she squeezed my hand. “What do you mean?” I questioned. “Who told you?” The guard and driver were as quiet as a tomb and Arthur was under oath to protect the patient’s confidentiality. “No one told me. Everyone in the pack already knows.” “But how?” Her answer made me more confused. “You must have opened the pack link and we felt what you felt when it happened.” She held both my hands as she said that. “I didn’t do it on purpose.” I felt my eyes water as I remembered that night. Keeping up the mental block was the least of my worries. However, I didn’t know I could channel my feelings to the whole pack like that. “That old hag didn’t tell you anything about your powers as Luna. Did she?” “You mean Gardenia? Please!” I snorted.  “She doesn’t know everything about the royal lineage, but she must have filled you in about your connection to the pack. At least to some extent.” “No, she didn’t.” I shook my head. “I learned a few things on my own, but Gardenia? She wouldn’t even tell me what’s for dinner.” I huffed remembering how tense it was the last time we talked. How tense it was all the time with her.   “Anyway, I fired her and her mate too. Well, she resigned, but you get the point. I’m still looking for her replacement. You were my first choice, but given your situation...”I trailed. “What situation?” Molly asked frowning. “You wanted to spend more time with your family and take care of your grandchild. I don’t want to take that away from you.” “That snake!” Molly’s mouth pressed into a thin line. “She lied to both of us! I never wanted to leave. I only wanted to take some time off. But she was just waiting for an excuse to get rid of me! I should have known. It was her chance to do as she pleases. She always had that haughty attitude because she was an alpha’s daughter and the beta’s mate. Since we didn’t have a queen before and she was the highest-ranking female. She considered herself de-facto Luna of the pack and acted as such. But I grew up in that palace and I know each nook and cranny. I was the senior staff and was trained to serve the royal family. I was the only one who stood up to her. No wonder she didn’t miss the chance to kick me out!” Molly kept going on about the conflicts she had with Gardenia. But at the mention of the palace, I looked up. It was built on higher ground. So even from here, I could see the tall tower and the rooftops of the main building. It was looming in the distance shrouded with dark clouds like a grim warning of the horrors that happened there. It was my prison and my mother’s before me. First, it was my uncle’s doing. Then It was my ex-counselor and his mate. And now, it was my mate’s turn to try and keep me captive between those cold walls. I knew Victor was only thinking of my health and safety, but I couldn’t help to feel restrained all the same.  Severin and Gardenia isolated me and kept me closeted to satisfy their hunger for power. Maybe I was immature, or maybe I was too immersed in my personal problems to notice. But in my defense, I wasn’t raised to be a monarch. I was barely surviving. Moving from one foster home to another. Living day-to-day. Not knowing what tomorrow would bring. I wasn’t prepared for any of this.  Revelation after revelation turned my world upside down. It turned out that I was a werewolf, which I didn’t even know existed. Then I found out that I was a lost princess and my mother died tragically. It only gave me a little consolation that my parents didn’t just abandon me. And after that, it was all the drama with my uncle. At least I worked things out with Victor, my mate, with who I had such a strong connection that I have yet to understand.  Now I was his Luna and Queen. I’m still learning and adjusting to my new role. Before coming here, I didn’t know much about royalty beyond the head titles in the tabloids. And it was either fashion-oriented or about some drama between family members. But I had no family. I may never will. I felt my proverbial glass fill up to the point of overflowing. Molly’s hand squeezing mine made me turn my attention back to her. She looked between me and the direction of the palace before she spoke. “I know it’s a different kind of grieve. To miss someone you never met. It takes time, but it will get better. You won’t forget, but it will come a day where all your sorrows are all but a distant memory. I can’t promise you the moon, but I promise you to never leave your side.” Her voice was warm and paced. She told me all the things that I needed to hear and I knew she meant them. “Thank you, Molly.” I said with a quivering voice and a rueful smile on my lips. Neither of us spoke for a while and I enjoyed the quiet. But it was too quiet. There were no birds chirping and no leaves rustling on the trees. It was the literal silence before the storm. I shuddered at what may come. ***** I returned to the castle with a single thought in my mind. If the kids broke into tears after a few minutes with me, it must have been worse for Victor. He was with me all the time, and he must have felt all my pain and sorrow. It was only because of his love and support that I was slowly feeling better as the days went by. After I spoke with Molly I had a better outlook. Instead of moping on the past and the things I couldn’t change, I should look up to the future. Whether I could have kids or not, I already had a family. It might be a small family, even a family of two was more than enough. Victor was all I needed to be happy. I stood in the doorway, looking lovingly at my mate as he was working. A small frown creased his forehead while he shuffled through some documents before he noticed my presence. When he looked up at me, a wide smile adorned his face. God, he was so beautiful. I couldn’t believe my luck to have him. How could I have been so stupid to let my doubts, fears, and insecurities come between us? Whatever comes our way I was ready to face it. Because he was worth fighting for. And together we were stronger than anything. “Claire!” He called for me and I made my way towards him chuckling. “What’s so funny?” He questioned my reaction. “You’re the only one who calls me like that anymore,” I replied after I leaned on the desk facing him.  It was refreshing to have no title attached to my name. Everyone around the pack was calling me Queen or Luna. “Do you want me to call you by your real name? Alexandra?” He put his hand on my knee as if he needed that physical connection. “No,” I shook my head. “They’re both my real name. Alexandra is the name my mother gave me. And Claire is the name I lived by until recently. But you can call me anything you want.”  I had asked the lawyer to add Claire as a middle name when he was getting my papers in order. As for Victor, though he didn’t speak much, he was never short of terms of endearments. Whatever he wanted to call me, I was fine by it. “Is that so?” He asked as he drew circular shapes with his fingertips on my thigh. “Then you can call me anything you want.” He said after I nodded in answer. “Can I call you Vicky?” Victor’s hand stilled at my question, and an unreadable expression took over his face. “You don’t like it?” I was afraid I made some faux-pas. Alphas were the epitome of masculinity. He might get angry at the feminine-sounding nickname. Victor shook his head before he spoke. “No, I love it.” His voice was low and strangled as if he was holding back his emotions.  “You’re sure?” I said it as a prank at first, but he seemed to accept wholeheartedly. “Yeah, but only when it’s just the two of us.” “Deal!”  I said and leaned forward to plant a kiss on his lips. “I love you, Vicky,” I confessed between kisses. ****Mature content from here to the end of the chapter**** Victor pulled me in his lap and curled his arm around me so the front of my body was pressed against him. His other hand was going up and down my side eliciting shivers on my skin. He was letting me have control of our kiss and I took advantage of it. My fingers tucked at his silky strands so he angled his head up. I licked his lips and he opened his mouth for me. It was exhilarating to be the one on top, leading the dance of our bodies as our tongues tangled together. I could feel the heat grow inside of me, and his desire was apparent as well.  Suddenly, Victor pushed me off of him. I was dizzy from the intensity of our make-out session that I could barely stand on my wobbly legs.  “We should stop!” He told me firmly as he held me away from him, his back as straight as a rod. “Why?” I couldn’t help how whiny I sounded.  “You still haven’t fully recovered yet.”  In the heat of the moment, I have forgotten that I couldn’t have s*x. At least for another week according to the doctor’s recommendation.  But I could tell that Victor was as horny as I was. He circled his arms around me and leaned his head on my chest. He might have told me to stop, but clearly, he didn’t want to.  “At least let me help you,” I said and he looked up at me. “What do you mean?” “Let me take care of you,” I told him. As I pushed him back, his grip relaxed but he kept his hands on my hips. I looked at the evidence of his arousal bulging from his pants.  “You don’t have to.”  “I want to do this.” I declared confidently and pecked his lips. “For my man.” I opened two buttons on his shirt before I kissed the top of his chest. “For my mate.” I kneeled between his legs and unbuckled his belt. “For my king,” I said looking up at him. I unbuttoned his pants and let his erection spring free. I knew he was big. I’ve seen him naked before, and I knew every plane and ridge of his body. But looking at him this close, was something else. His erect p***s was intimidating. The first time I tried to give him head, it was a disaster. I was curious about the act. I have overheard the boys at school talk about getting a BJ. It was a known fact that males loved receiving it. Victor went down on me more times than I could count, without me having to ask him. It was only fair to return the favor.  Though I had good intentions and it was purely for research purposes, I made the mistake of watching adult videos to know more about the practice. What the professionals don’t mention or don’t seem to have, was the gag reflex. I found out the hard way, that one can’t just go for the deep-throat in the first go. I ended up dry heaving and it ruined the mood for the night. It took me long enough to come to the resolution to try again. I looked at his erect p***s. He was already hard and the veins were throbbing and engorged with blood. Tentatively, I put my hand around his length and gave him a couple of strokes. Precum seeped from his slit and my tongue darted out to lick it. He tasted sour and sweet, a little bit tangy but not bad overall. It was a taste I could get used to. Victor inhaled sharply and knowing he liked what I was doing, I became bolder.  I put my mouth around the head and started sucking on him like a lollipop. I was enjoying this more than I thought I would, to the point that I moaned. Victor grunted in response and it gave all the encouragement I needed to continue my ministrations. I gave his length a lick from bottom to top before giving his shaft a few open-mouth kisses. With his c**k covered in saliva, there was less friction with my hand movement and I went back on sucking him.  I wasn’t paying attention to anything but the taste of Victor on my tongue, the feeling of his soft skin against my lips, how hard he was under my touch. Suddenly, Victor pushed his chair forward and he shoved his c**k into my mouth in the process. I didn't realize that someone had barged in until Victor spoke. “Can’t you knock?” He said to the uninvited guest without hiding his annoyance. I was panicking that someone might see me in this compromising position. Then, I remembered that I was masking my scent. So unless I make noise, they won’t find out I was here, or what I was doing under the desk. All I had to do was breathe through my nose, like when I was at the dentist and he had his hand in my mouth. It was more difficult to breathe when I had my mate’s c**k down my throat. I was acutely aware now, that the gag reflex had a biological reason to exist, and there was no point in fighting it. My eyes were watering because of the sensation, but I willed myself to relax my jaw. I didn’t want to bite on him like last time. The pressure lessened and he slid off my throat. Since I could breathe normally again, I continued what I was doing before the intrusion and listened. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you Alpha. This is a little urgent, and you weren’t responding to the mind link.” I recognized the voice as Garret or one of his brothers. “I’m a little occupied, at the moment. What is it?” Victor sounded tense. He was resisting letting out a moan at what I was doing to him. “The north patrol hadn’t reported in more than two hours. They weren’t at their post at the time of shift change and they aren’t answering our calls.” The Beta explained. “Is it...a rogue?” Victor asked and slapped his fist on the desk as I took him against my cheek. I wasn’t daring enough to challenge my natural reflexes yet. “I don’t know. One rogue wouldn’t be a problem though. It might be an attack. I’m taking a team to go and inspect the situation.” “Okay, go!” Victor told him through gritted teeth. “Aren’t you coming?” I smiled. He was coming alright. “You go first. I’ll be right after you.” I heard the door close before Victor leaned back on his chair, giving me more space. Now that we were alone again, I felt I could go on with my task freely. Victor gathered my hair in a ponytail and held it away from my face. My head bobbed up and down and I stroked the base with my hand. I didn’t slow down until I felt the sprout of warm liquid in my mouth. I licked him clean before I lifted myself up and sat on his lap. “What have you done to me?” He said before pulling in a searing kiss.
