"Come on, I can't drink, but you two can!" Karina said with a smile.
"That’s no fun! We should all drink together," I insisted, my good mood making me persuasive. "Just a little won’t hurt."
"Nope. Unless you ask my brother for permission." Karina pouted, tossing the dilemma to me.
I froze. "Me ask him? Wouldn’t it be better if you called him yourself?"
"No way. If I ask, he’ll definitely say no." She nudged my arm, pleading. "Audrey, I really want to drink too. Please ask him for me?"
"I—" I hesitated.
But Lillian joined in. "Just give Mr. Evans a quick call. Tell him we’re at Jade Garden—it’s fine. After dinner, I’ll have someone take Rina home. Totally safe."
