The nurse frowned and asked, "Have you taken any sleeping pills?"
"Yeah, I took two before bed, and it’s been..." I glanced at the digital clock by the emergency room door. "About four hours now."
The nurse immediately shook her head. "Then it's not possible. You won’t pass the blood test."
I shrugged and looked at their shocked expressions and said calmly, "Sorry, it’s not that I’m unwilling to help, but there’s nothing I can do about it."
Richard exploded, his face turning red with fury. "Audrey, you're toying with us! You knew you couldn’t donate blood—why didn’t you say something earlier?"
