It was a bright Wednesday morning when Michelle Williams, a 27-year-old attractive blonde woman, woke up in the master bedroom.
She sat up on the bed and looked around the room, searching for her husband. However, she heard the sound of a shower running in the bathroom.
Stepping down from the bed, Michelle went to the bathroom to see who was bathing there.
Unlocking the door, she saw her husband, Pascal Thompson, standing under the shower.
"Good morning, babe," she greeted him, and he looked at her as if he was not the one she had just greeted.
"Morning. How was your night?" Pascal mumbled, getting out of the shower. He grabbed a towel to cover his body, noticing that Michelle's eyes were rather fixated on his body. He wasn't ready to be intimate with her, so he stepped into the main bedroom to dry up.
Pascal walked away from Michelle to go into his closet and grab his suit.
"My night was fine," Michelle replied. She knew that her husband was the CEO of the Thompson Group, a prominent company in the state.
Pascal Thompson was a tall, dark-skinned man with a masculine figure and handsome appearance. He was also very hardworking.
He came out of the closet and walked into the bedroom to get dressed and leave for work.
"Babe, I was thinking about bringing your favorite lunch to the office today," Michelle told him, knowing that after they had gotten married a few months ago, he had asked her to resign from her job and stay at home as his wife.
According to him, his wife was not supposed to work.
"No need. I have a meeting today to see if I can secure a deal with the Williams Corporation," Pascal said, wearing his trousers and finishing with his necktie.
"The Williams Corporation?" Michelle felt her heart skip a beat. She had lied to Pascal about her family. She had hidden the truth from him when she applied at his company some ago, denying that she was the real Michelle Williams and claiming that she didn't know the Williams family.
After her last messy breakup, Michelle had decided to take down all her pictures online, lock her online pages, and sue any company that published articles about her. She had stayed low-key for two years before meeting Pascal, and even though she had said she wouldn't fall in love again, she was swept off her feet the moment she saw him and agreed to marry him.
Pascal's family wanted him to marry, and he had introduced Michelle to his family. She had lied that her parents were deceased, a big lie, just so that she wouldn't have to use her father's identity.
Michelle felt guilty about lying to Pascal. Although Pascal had told her that they would have a baby soon, she hasn't gotten pregnant yet, and she didn't know why.
She couldn't disclose the truth about her family to Pascal yet. It weighed heavily on her heart, and she wanted to tell him, but she wasn't sure how he would react.
Her older brothers, Larry and Kenneth Williams, wanted to meet Pascal and get to know him better. But remembering her past fraudulent relationships, where the men wanted her only because of her father's wealth, she had fled from home and come to work at the Thompson Group, where she had met Pascal, a 29-year-old business entrepreneur. They had become friends, and when she realized the Thompson Group was struggling, she secretly pleaded with her brothers to help Pascal, and they were able to get the company to the top.
A satisfied smile curled up Michelle's lips as she remembered the previous year when she had met Pascal and believed he was the best man and the best thing to ever happen to her. They had only been married for three months, and their marriage wasn't even a year old.
"Um, babe, I also want to come to your company and see the growth that you have made so far," Michelle said, but Pascal turned to face her as he grabbed his briefcase to leave for work.
"There's no need for that, Michelle. You should stay at home and rest, that's why you're my wife. I don't need you working or coming to the company again. Just stay here and take care of the house. I have to go now," Pascal hurriedly left the house, and Michelle frowned.
"What about your breakfast? You can't simply leave the house without having your breakfast," Michelle rushed out of the bedroom upstairs and went after Pascal downstairs, catching him in the living room.
"Oh! I'm already late. I have a meeting with the heiress of the Williams family today, and you know what that means for me today," Pascal said, smiling, and Michelle was stunned.
"Heiress of the Williams family?" She asked him, feeling confused, and Pascal pulled the living room door open and told her, "Yes. She promised to visit my company today, and you know what that means for me."
"...I..." Michelle couldn't bring herself to tell Pascal the truth that she was the real heiress to the Williams Group.
"Alright. Have a nice day," she said at last, and Pascal left.
"Who could be the heiress of the Williams family if not me?" Michelle pondered.
Anyway, she was determined to visit Pascal's company, as her oldest brother, Larry, had insisted that she provide him with an overview of the Thompson Group and how far the company's growth had progressed before he could sign the new deal with Pascal.
According to Larry, he didn't trust Pascal not to change and become greedy. He needed to be sure that Pascal was managing the company's affairs well and that the Thompson Group was doing well.
Michelle went back to the kitchen to prepare her breakfast alone.
She looked at the diamond ring on her left finger. Pascal had proposed to her, and she had wasted no time in saying yes to him.
She sighed and caressed the ring.
"I love you, Pascal, and I believe you wouldn't cheat on me," Michelle said, smiling and preparing her tea. She went to sit at the dining chair, placing her teacup and tray on the table to have her tea at home.
Once she finished her breakfast, the house cleaners arrived to clean her home, and she allowed them entry to do their job while she went to the bathroom upstairs to bathe. The cleaners came twice a week to clean her home.
"Hmm..." Michelle knew that her parents were not aware of her marriage to Pascal yet. She had not informed her brothers that she and Pascal were married; she had only told them that she was dating Pascal. But she knew her two brothers had done their research and found out the truth, and they had threatened to report her to their father if she didn't show them Pascal's worth, as they needed to be sure that Pascal loved her very much and had entrusted his company affairs to her as well.
Michelle entered her bathroom and bathed quickly. Once she was done, she came out, wrapped in a white towel, and heard her phone ringing.
"Hello, who is this?" She asked and heard Fiona's voice.
"Hello, Michelle, guess what?" Fiona Enzo told her happily, grinning over the phone, and Michelle asked her, "What is it?"
"Well, I'm going to your husband's company today to apply for the Finance Manager position that I told you about. I told you before that I wanted to work for Pascal, and you thought I was joking," Fiona said, still laughing over the phone, and Michelle frowned. She felt uncomfortable, like something was not right.
"Fiona, why must you work for Pascal? You know that I haven't told him the truth about my identity yet." Michelle was restless. She couldn't trust Fiona not to divulge the truth to Pascal before she was able to do so.
"Don't worry. I'm not going to tell your husband anything. I'm only going to work there. See you later, babe," Fiona quickly ended the call, and Michelle frowned.
"Why do I not feel okay about this? Why must Fiona work for my husband? Something isn't right," Michelle murmured, but she went to her closet to grab the clothes she wanted to wear.
Donning a light blue dress, Michelle smiled and set off to the kitchen. She trusted Pascal and decided not to let Fiona's insistence to work for him trouble her.
Fiona's father was a security guard in Michelle's father's company. And because of her father's generosity, he had sponsored Fiona Enzo's university education, as he knew that Fiona and his daughter were friends.
Michelle knew that everyone would think that Fiona was her father's daughter, but Fiona was only one of the many children that her father, Mr. Pedro William, had helped.
Sighing, Michelle went to her kitchen and prepared lunch. The cleaners were done cleaning up the house.
"Madam, we're done," the two cleaners told Michelle when they saw her come downstairs, and before she went to the kitchen.
"Alright. Take care, and I'll see you on Saturday," Michelle told them as they left. She then went to prepare the delicious meal and set off to deliver it to Pascal's office.
