The school hall was a buzz of energy as parents, friends, and teachers filled the stands. It was Friday afternoon, and the talent show was in full swing. The atmosphere was electric. Molly had just about invited everyone. Naomi and Erik. Mandy and Mark. Vanessa and Damon. Sophia and Atticus. Jacob and Alastair. Corey, Hank, and Jack. And of course, Kathy and Brian.
“Look! There’s Carrie!” Molly exclaimed loudly. The hall fell into a hushed silence as Carrie took to the stage. I was amazed at Carrie’s on-stage confidence and pride washed over me as I watched her step up to the mic.
