Beckett’s POV I fall into step beside Elodie, close enough that she can feel my presence, offering her comfort as my hand rests gently against her back. 'We'll fix this,' I murmur, low enough that only she can hear me, and hoping to God that I’m speaking the truth. She gives me a small smile, nodding imperceptibly at my words, but I’m not sure she completely believes them either.
