Elodie's POV By the time we make it back to the room, Callie's practically asleep on her feet, her hair still damp and smelling of chlorine, one small hand gripping mine like an anchor as she stumbles slightly over the threshold. 'Bath or shower, baby?' I ask, crouching to slip her flip flops from her feet. 'Shower,' she mumbles, through an enormous yawn. ‘Baths take too long.' I manage a small laugh at that, my daughter, choosing efficiency over luxury even at six years old, just like me. I steer her toward the bathroom, reaching in to turn on the water before helping her wriggle out of her swimsuit. I drop the costume into the sink to wash out later, before setting her under the warm spray, keeping it quick and gentle, more rinse than proper wash. She barely has the energy to complai
