Elodie’s POV 'What's the challenge going to be today?' she asks, practically skipping alongside me as we make our way toward the main deck, Beckett’s hand still held tightly in her own. 'I have no idea,' I say. 'I guess we'll find out soon enough.' 'I hope it's something with swimming,' she says. 'Or maybe treasure hunting again. That was really fun.' 'We'll see,' I say, grateful beyond words for her easy, uncomplicated chatter, a welcome distraction from everything still churning uneasily beneath the surface of my own thoughts. Beckett catches my eye briefly over her head, lifting his chin slightly in a reassuring motion, telling me that I’m not on my own in this. I manage a small, genuine smile in return, some of the morning's fury finally settling into something more manageable now
