Elodie's POV I make my way down to breakfast with Callie's hand in mine, moving considerably slower than usual, my head still thick with the memory of last night pressing insistently at the edges of every thought I'm trying to have about anything else. 'Mummy, can I have pancakes and waffles?' Callie asks, tugging at my hand as we near the buffet. 'One or the other, baby,' I say, grateful for the simple, uncomplicated distraction of her request.
