Beckett's POV
We find the last token tucked behind the life ring near the pool, Dominic spotting it before either Vanessa or I do, his small hand darting out to grab it with a burst of quiet, proud excitement entirely unlike the shy, hesitant boy that usually stands beside his mother. It doesn’t look like anyone else has been here before us, and I realise that we might actually win this challenge.
'That's all three!' Vanessa announces, snatching the token from her son’s hands, her voice loud enough for the trailing camera to catch every word and dragging my attention from my thoughts. She spins toward me with a delighted laugh, throwing both arms around my neck in a hug that lasts several seconds too long. 'We did it! I knew we made a good team.'
