The Queen & Her Knight

Chapter 29

THE KING

He knows that what he is requesting of you is something impossible. It is like you are asking him to stick around while you are marrying Lord Jackson. But you did not give him a chance to finish his sentence.

He stands up from the bed, walking towards you, and put his hands around your waist from behind. He rests his head on your shoulder and then whispers the rest of his sentence.

"Angel, I will never marry the princess. There is only one woman for me and that is you"

LADY WINTERS

You feel a strong arm holding you tight and pulling you close to him. You listen to the words that he says and your heart fills with joy once again. You turn around still in his embrace and look at him so he can finish what he started.

"I just need you to act as if everything is exactly the same. Because I do not know who is involved in this tyranny. I need things to be as normal as possible so that I can launch an investigation and find out what is going on. Do you understand what I am trying to do?"

You feel like an i***t that you even suspected that he would want to marry the princess instead of you after all the things that he has already done. You slap him playfully on his shoulder and then smile.

"Why didn't you just tell me that from the beginning?"

He can not help but chuckle at your silliness and how you turn this whole thing around on him. Then he gives you a passionate kiss and you can feel his love for you. But then he pulls away while moaning as his lip is cut open.

"We need to take care of the King's face. Now, would you please go and sit down on the bed so that I can take care of you?"

He walks willingly with you to the bed and you start to clean his face. He just looks at you with adoration as you take care of him.

"I need to get back to my room as people will start to I suspect that something is going on because I have not been seen in public for about an entire day"

"What are you going to tell the people happened to your face, sire?"

Then after you put the last bandage on his face he stands up and walks around the room. You can see that he is intensely thinking of what he can say happened to his face.

"Maybe I can tell them that I went for a ride on my horse and then fell off as the horse got spooked by something?"

"And what are you gonna tell them about going back home now and not finishing the tour?"

He then stops in the middle of his walking around the room and just smile while staring at you.

"You know, Lady Winters, you would make a fine Queen"

You can not believe the words that the King just spoke to you. Does this mean that he wants to marry you and make you the Queen? You have always just seen the King as James and not as the King of a kingdom. You never thought of the possibility that you could be queen. This is a daunting thought.

Then he clears his throat as if he realizes what he just said.

"I mean... What I meant to say is that you are a very clever woman"

You enjoy how the great and mighty King squirms in before of you. This only makes you love him more as you see a blush creeps up on his cheeks and he stumbles over his own words.

"Well, then I thank you, sire"

"Will you be okay alone tonight?"

You know that you will not be okay but you realized that if you are not going to ruin the King's plan you are going to have to keep up the facade. So, you put on your best face and answer him.

"I am going to be okay. You have to get back and show your face to the people before they realize something is going on"

You can see his hesitation in his eyes and that he does not want to leave you but you know that he is the King and he has things to do especially now in this time. You take his hand and start to walk towards your door.

"I appreciate everything that you have done for me these couple of days and you must know that I love you with my entire heart. This is not going to be easy to stay away from you but I know that you have things to do and you need to save the Kingdom. So, I am letting you go now and I will do what you require of me"

THE KING

He feels his heart starting to race as you walk towards the door and then he listens to every word you say. He knows that he has lots of things to do but he can not imagine doing anything without you. It was painful enough for him throughout this tour not to be able to have you by his side every minute of every day and here he is asking you to do it all over again.

He knows that you are a confident independent woman and that you put on a brave face but he is not sure if he would be able to give you a brave face back. He hardly could hardly contain his emotions when he did not know you as intimately as he does now. So, he is not sure how he would be able to handle his emotions now.

The pain on his face is nothing compared to the pain that he is feeling in his heart right now. He put his hand on the doorknob and then turned to look at you one last time.

"Are you sure you are going to be okay to pretend like we have nothing going on?"

You give him a sad smile and then say.

"It is going to be hard but I think it will be more difficult for you"

He frowns at you and then asks.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, I will probably see you in the castle till tomorrow as I have the honor of shadowing the princess"

He is not sure what he just heard you said to him but if he is correct the princess is up to something again and this time it is something that has to do with you.

"I am sorry, angel, but can you please just repeat what you just said? Because if I heard correctly the princess wants you to be her slave for the day?"

He watches you nod your head in agreement with his statement.

"I am so glad that somebody can see the insanity of this situation. That was exactly my thought when I heard her saying how she wants every lady to shadow her and learn how to be a lady in waiting"

He can not help the anger that is pushing up in his heart. What is wrong with the princess that she would even consider doing something like that to her loyal and volunteering ladies. How can she treat them like this? She is supposed to be the example of a lady.

"What else did you say?"

"Oh, nothing much except that we are not up to standard as her ladies-in-waiting and that we need to learn from other countries how to be better"

The anger that he thought was pushing up in his heart now turned into rage. He knows that he has to leave now but now he needs to calm down first. He takes a deep breath and then holds your hand looking into your eyes. Just before he can open his mouth you start to speak.

"James, you have enough things to worry about and I am not going to expect you to handle the princess as well. You need to go and save a kingdom I will be the one dealing with the princess. Now that I know that you are mine and I am yours there is not much that will stop me from speaking my mind to the princess. But do not worry, I will not let the princess suspect anything"

If he had ever wondered if you would make a good queen this will definitely put that thought to rest. You will probably be one of the best Queens in the world. He can not help it as he stands in awe while he looks at you. He pulls you in for a passionate kiss and holds you tight against his sculpted chest. You can hear the soft moaning rumbling in his chest.

"Hmm... You making me fall in love with you, every minute of every day, over and over again. I knew when I saw you the first time that you will be my perfect match in every way. You complete me, body, mind, and soul. You are my everything"
