It had been five days after her father’s burial and she still couldn’t believe that he was gone and never coming back. When Emma got the call from the doctor that her ex-husband was no more, she was hurt beyond repair. Her daughter’s father had just passed on and there was nothing she could do to bring him back.
After the call, they had to cut their visit short because they were needed at the hospital to sign some documents and, since Abby was next on her father’s credentials, she had to be there.
It turned out that her father, despite being so abusive and always torturing her because of her weight gain and chubby appearance, left everything in her name. He had a condo back on the coast side of New York that he had rented to someone else for income-generation purposes.
