~Adela pov~
Someone knocks at my door as I finish tying up my hair.
"Come in." Shay the lead seeker came in. I assigned her just a century ago and she has proven significant use.
"Your Majesty, your granddaughter is here." She says after bowing.
"Thank you." I stand up, straighten my dress, and walk to the door. I nod at Shay as I walk pass her out the door. "It's a lovely day in Ivearona you can feel it even in here." I commit. She nods in agreement as she followed me, "Shay?"
"Yes, your majesty?"
"Do you miss Ivearona?"
"Everyday ma'am." She responses. We walk through the maze of a building and by the time I reach my grandsons chambers I see him laying her down.
“What happened?”
“It seems you were right.” Was the only thing he said before leaving the room, I trail after him, “She was using her powers at school and overexerted herself.”
“But the weather didn’t change, do you know what happened in detail?” He shakes his head,
“You inform everyone to come to the meeting hall now.” He barks at a guard who was stand at his post next to his office without missing a beat he continues to the meeting hall.
"Alright so what have you found?" Isaac asked the Seekers when we get into the boardroom, they were already there waiting for him it was late, but these guys go days without sleep thanks to this spell Alzir found in the old books I gave him. One -I pointed leader- stands up and bows,
"The man is name Shawn Caraway, he lives here," She stands up, she's young for her status she looks like she could be a year older than Ivey in human years if we went by human years that it. She points to the house on the 3D map that comes from the table. Isaac nods for her to go on. "He's pale skinned, the hair is blond different from the last seen that is if he is the same man, I don't know a spell that changes hair..."
"In this realm there's a thing called hair dye you can change your hair any color, even blue." He interrupted. I had taken a seat in the back.
"Why would a human want their hair blue?" One of the lower rank seekers asked. He sighs.
"To stand out, be different from the world or take a stand for something you believe in there's a lot of reasons." They all say "oh" in unison.
"Continued please." I say leaning back in my chair. The leader looked annoyed by her partners but didn't say anything on it just continued,
"He disappears every weekday, never comes out on the weekend. Once he leaves on the weekdays, we can't find him after this street,” she zooms in on two streets after his house. I hold my hand up everyone went quiet and stared I smile,
"Rewind his route again, please." I ask, she nods and does so. I have her do it slowly a few times.
"He heads towards the school every day." Alzir commits.
"I thought so too, but why he would head there he doesn't know we're here the last time I checked, Alzir?" He nods in agreement.
"You, what is your name?" Isaac asked the leader.
"Shay." She answers she is serious one.
"Have you any knowledge of the human world." She straightens her shoulders,
"I have study them a bit, sir."
"Enough to blend in with them." She nods. "Please sit Shay." She does so but still she is stiff like a board. "Do you know how to blend into a teenage setting?"
"I'm sorry, what?" She was very confused.
"The younger people around Ivey's age is a teenager they go to high school and learn about things."
"Oh, yes sir."
"Good, you'll be enrolling next Monday."
"Excuse me?" She tilts her head a little.
"That's your next assignment, you're going to see if he's there and if he is there then report back so we can figure out how and what his plan is. You'll report back to me his every move."
"How is she supposed to enroll or anything she isn't a teenager of this world, or a teenager at that fact, and has no parents to sign her up." Alzir commit he nod,
"You'll be her father than you enroll her as for her not being a teen that isn't the problem, she looks young, so it'll work. I'll get into the system and give her Ivey schedule so she can also keep an eye on her to."
"To keep her safe, right?" Alzir inquired.
"Not, now Alzir if he truly is heading to the school every weekday there is a high possibility that he knows who Ivey is and has already have a plan set to harm her. I'm not taking that chance, Shay come with me I'll give you, your information you'll need it's in my office." She nods and we all get up, but he stops and shakes his head. “Ivey is sleeping there we will just talk here everyone else may leave now.” With one command they started to fill out.
"Please take a seat." He gestures to a chair closer to him assumedly, so he didn’t have to shout, I walk over and take a seat on the other side of him. She takes a seat as Alzir stands by the door. "Alzir sit too, you know you're going to be listening." He comes and sit down as well.
"How much do you know about my reason for being on earth?" Isaac ask Shay.
"Not much just that it was your parents way of protecting Ms. Ivey."
"Yes, that is true, but do you know from who?"
"Not very well I know that it's the man we are searching for because he is dangerous to the fea kind."
"Do you know why he is hunting her?" She nods. "Well if he finds her she will die but because my parents have died and now are back in Ivearona I am not sure if Ivey will be reborn as soon as usual and with all that is happening in Ivearona we cannot afford to waste more time."
"So, what does this have to do with me watching over her at this um, school?" She asked.
"Well she has almost one year till she is eighteen however earlier today she had used her powers, which is not supposed to happen, but it did, I am worried that these creatures might have found her at her school. My late uncle Anthony have been giving her a potion he made to suppress her magic so she can hide and blend into the human world, but the potion stops working when she turns into an adult because at that time she'll be to powerful. It seems that for the past few days that the potion isn't as effective, and I need to know why and if something in her life is activating it. I also want you to protect her if she really is starting to use her magic because she does not know anything, she thinks she is human, she does not know about fea's or that she is one. If she uses her magic even if it's just her slightly changing the weather or keeping plants alive let me know."
"Will you finally tell her if she is using it unknowingly you know how that could affect this realm." Alzir ask, he nods then looks my way.
“Your being unusually quiet.” He says I shrug,
“Keep going I haven’t heard anything I didn’t like.” I glance his way resting my head on my arms that I folded on the table waiting for his answers which he does with a sigh.
"I know and I will and since I know she'll be mad at me or even thinks I'm lying I'll take her to Ivearona."
"I was wondering, and I know it's not my place but..." She paused. "Why when your parents passed you didn't return to our realm?" I looked up from where my head was balancing on my knuckles and just looked up at her for a second.
"Well it's a long story so I'll short it up as much as I can." I lean back and rest my hands on the table as he continues to talk. "You see my little sister is the next queen and as you know the unseelies have been on the move for some time we have been keeping it from the kingdom, but Ivey was supposed to be queen about a half a century ago,”
“but thanks to a particular fea, a Cuimilt, a Fea noble from the Seelie Court who is known for its distrust of mortals. Has the ability to skin Fae and mortals alive with a touch of its sticky fingers. He then wear the skin of their victims. Thing is he wants to nothing more than to kill the Seelie royals for the Unseelie Court king." I interject.
"What?"
"Ivey dear your awake?" I stand from my chair as did everyone else as the sound of her voice.
"What do you mean?" She asked stepping into the room. “You are all joking with me right none of that is real! It can’t be cause then…” She chokes on some tears then an arm reaches from the hall onto her back her pale skin was a nice sight to see I move away from my seat to them,
“Feeling better?” Ivey nods taking in a deep breath.
“Mother?” Isaac gasp as he sees her. Ivey look between the two eyes wide from shock.
“Back it up no, no, no…” Ivey moves from Aivila who gives a sad smile.
"How are you feeling my dear?”
“I’m still a little sore but she has a lot of power so I’m helping her helping me.” She shrugs. “Sorry sweetheart it took longer than usual your dad is still healing.” I glance around this must be a day for her I sigh and put her back to sleep.
“Grandma!” Isaac hiss as he caught her and rested her in a chair. “What were you think?”
“That it was a lot for her to take in and she should rest on it.”
“I needed her awake I think she’s been in chanted by a dream fea.” He huffs walking around the room his human appears gone. My eyes wide and I make a oh.
“What is going on? Where is your uncle?” Aivila ask Isaac moving to check her daughter,
“Something called a car crash.” I answer taking a seat in the nearest chair.
“That can’t right, not Anthony.” She almost collapsed onto the floor, but I caught her by the arm, “How is that possible that couldn’t have killed him. He was a powerful Amarok.” I nod pain filled my chest.
“I couldn’t believe it either, so I had our best people it appears that the flames once ignited was then cursed killing him in seconds.” We could hear the pain in his voice as he spoke. Aivila nods whipping her tears then turns to me,
“We can save him right he wasn’t completely gone?” Desperation was clear in her voice she always loved her younger brother just as her husband did and I was grateful for that. I shook my head, I thought back on the day Isaac came to Ivearona I had broken down in the tombs tears pricked at my eyes. I take a breath and move to my granddaughter,
“I wish it was possible, but he is gone for good with his father now.” I glance down at Ivey tiny amounts of sweat danced at her hairline as she shows discomfort. I sigh it pained me to know that I can’t do anything about this not until I can get her powers to awake and have her take the throne. I tap her shoulder twice pink fea dust sparked from my fingertips she sterns awake her eyes flutter open.
"Hello I'm Adela." I introduce myself as she sat up from the couch, I give her some rom the other family members came and crowded around her while Alzir and Shay stayed back.
“Who are you?” She asked sitting up from the couch staring at all of us letting her eye’s stay on her mother she was confused and worried plagued her face,
“I’m your grandmother.”
"You know I pictured you older looking." I laugh she wasn’t terrible entertained with the idea; her eye’s didn’t leave Aivila’s,
"I don't age like those people." I said moving to a chair motioning for the two to take a seat they bowed and did as told. Her brother stayed next to her on the couch their mother stood in front of them.
“Is it because of the fact that you’re not human?” I look over at her amused the question it was clearly not for me, however. Aivila nods to her daughter, “Why do you look different if you were just healing?”
“Technically I died, so my soul had to recreate me a body, but my old form was beyond repair, so it made a new one.”
“Ivey how much did you hear?” Isaac ask getting her attention her eyes glossing over.
“I got here when you said I had until I was eighteen and the fact that something is after me and that I am not human and that Uncle Anthony was poisoning me,”
“He wasn’t poisoning you it’s suppressing your powers sweetheart though I didn't expect you to know that either your brother hid so much from you already. You really were a lively girl before always smiling, laughing, playing jokes on your brother, fighting with him it was quite amusing really just like really brother and sister." She glares at me her potion defiantly out of her system. Then she huffs,
“You said I have magic, and that…” She whispers after not speaking for a few minutes trying to find the words.
"Let me show you something sweetie sit down." She goes and sits in one of the chairs.
"What kind of things?" I turn back to her with a big smile, but she was starting to look pale.
"Well something like this." The heat rises to warm her up but something in her started to fizzle and so I made it was so cold she started to shiver so I adjust the heat up again then made it a little windy to cool her down some. "I can also make it snow." I smile as her eyes wide.
"GRANDMOTHER!!!!!" Isaac shouts, he slashes his hand across in the air and it was like I did nothing. I scowl at him.
"What?" I ask.
"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!!!"
"Showing her what you won't. Plus, she wasn’t looking well I was just trying to make her comfortable."
"For a reason, I wasn’t telling her for a reason." His voice shook.
"Right because you and your uncle thought it was for the best. I know it isn't, she isn’t feeling good because she has too much power built up and has been around that other fea boy there for her powers are emerging we can’t hide it anymore."
"You have no place to talk you weren't here and you weren't doing anything to protect her before either, so you don't have the right to tell or show her anything I have a year left!" I laugh.
"Isaac you will not talk to her like that she is her grandmother..."
"Some grandmother." I hear Ivey grunt. I look at her, she looks at me and asked, "What are you two talking about?"
"Your life sweetheart."
"You are choosing my life for me?" She huffed looking at Isaac than back at me, "What was all the change in the air? Why are you here now? What about uncle Anthony? What are you talking about next year? And why are you both talking like I'm not here and have the nerve to not explain anything to me?!!!!" Isaac's eyes widen and where I tilted my head,
"Well that's a long story." I answered.
"Shorten it then, I already heard some of it in the hall." She demanded.
"Calm down you weren’t feeling good it’s best if you take it easy.” Isaac said with concern clear in his voice, I smile to myself noting the change in their relationship it was becoming like old times which means it's getting closer. "What are you smiling about?" Isaac asked facing me.
"The potion is wearing off." I replied.
"Okay what is the potion, what does it do?" Ivey asked clearly lost. My eyes widen then I settled back in the chair.
"Oh, it is to suppress your powers, if you want to use it here on earth you would tell all unseelies that you were here.”
"Enough grandmother I thought I had more time." Isaac hissed at me.
"For what Isaac to lie." She snared.
"I wasn't lying." He insisted.
"No, you just didn't tell me anything." She pointed out.
"It was for your own safety."
"From what?" She asked she stood her body surrounded by fire her anger spiking she face her brother and mother who are sitting behind her she turned to yell at him. Her powers start to get out of hand she was shivering from the anger. I slowly and quietly move behind her and pull out the last thing that could release it, her wings. She shouts falling to her knees she was in tears,
“What are… I have seen those before.” She gasped as the pain wither away.
“In your dreams, right?” Isaac ask. She nods
“Yes, but I haven’t, I haven’t told you everything.” She mumbles looking up at her brother tears streaming down her face, he moves to her side she shy’s away but let him help her up and to the chair she was sitting. Her wings large and spread out shining us all in the eyes. I move to her and tap her shoulder letting them fall back under the skin. She takes a breath and continued, “I have been having those dreams for years but lately they have been getting terrifying, so scary that I don’t want to sleep. It’ started when I turned sixteen.”
“So, you have been met by a dream fea.” Isaac sighs running a hand through his hair. “I should have known.” He mutters to himself Alivia gets up and take his hand is his,
“You’d couldn’t have known Isaac you were busy and dealing with Ivearona you had stretched yourself to thin. If anything as your parent, I have failed both of you. You couldn’t have known what he was planning.”
"That creature you were talking about, right?" She asked looking at me.
“An unseelie fea.” I started but she cuts me off,
"You mean a fairy?" I almost groan out loud.
"No, not a fairy that is a name given to us by humans to make us seem all cute and cuddly we are called fea's." I respond a little annoyed, "Our family are from a long line of Seelie fea you and I are one of the strongest type of fea known to Ivearona, long with being able to control the weather, we can make someone do whatever we want with a simple touch or we can take their life and powers, we can even give life if we wish. Your brother is like your father all though Seelie blood runs through his veins he also an Elf, the gift inherited from your grandfather's "
"An elf?" She asks with an odd facial expression.
"Not even close." Isaac says quickly after looking over at Ivey with a very serious voice. "We are the complete opposite we are from the solitary section of the realm; we don't look like other. Our features are very translucent you can see our bone structure fairly well. Some have found if we take humans life force, we can use more of our magic to use glamor to appear more approachable. There are few like me were a mix bread of two distinct kinds of elf. Also, not a lot of elf did or do the whole human thing anymore." Again, she makes an odd face, but I bet this time it was on the human killing. She also got a oh look on her face.
"Yes, anyways that creature is here to kill you like he did your parents." As I start to tell her about what has been happening, but with her head down eyes glued on the ground asked,
"So why are we here?" I look at Isaac he answers.
"Because we were in danger in Ivearona, so our parents brought us here to keep us safe." He looks at his mother who had sad eyes.
"Why?"
“Someone don't think that Seelie’s should be ruling." I answer.
"The one looking to kill Seelie’s had tracked you to earth and planned on killing you all in your sleep but because you woke up and attacked him subconsciously,” Alivia answers but couldn’t finish talking Alzir hands her the box of tissues,
“He had only been able to attack your parents hence the reason I wasn't at the funeral I was looking for that person and I was close but then he disappeared on me again." I huffed in anger. She nods looking like she wanted to cry.
"Why didn't we go back to Ivearona?"
"Because uncle Anthony thought that the man went back to wait for us to go back so we didn't fall into his plan." She nods again then it went silent. It was quite long enough so I said.
"If you would like I can start to teach you about how to use your power." She nods with a small smile. Isaac looked at me like I was crazy. "What?" I asked him then I ask, “She is a succubus do you want her to outgrow the potion and start feeding on the humans around her or better yet reveal everything because there will be a trail of bodies if we don’t teach her now.” he doesn't say anything as Ivey look at him as a while. He straightens his shoulders and said,
“I think that she should wait." Ivey’s head spun to look at him her face showed she was horrified.
"Why?" She asks looking up at him her eyes pleading.
"Because it'll draw too much attention to you. You'll have to stop drinking your milk that will make you act different plus I don't know if it'll have your wings will end up coming in or when it's very risky." She looked disappointed she then looks at me with a small pled look.
"Then on weekends let her come to Ivearona to learn." He doesn't say anything, so I add, "You have the only portal that goes back and forth from there and here making it safe."
"What about her homework?" He asked,
"I'll be able to do both I swear." She instead. He sighed pushing his hand through his hair,
"Fine, but if anything happens, you old hag better take care of it." He glares at me and I glare back,
"Well shrimp don't get your panties in a bunch of course I'll take care of her."
"Also, don't let anyone in Ivearona know she's there." He looks at Ivey, "You are limited to the castle only no sightseeing and obviously you cannot tell anyone that we are here." She almost laughed,
"Who will I tell? I have no friends remember." I look at her then Isaac.
"Starting tomorrow morning you will traveling so I would suggest a few things, for starters I would like you to wear a nice dress with heels, hair up, no jewelry. Bring something to move in, no makeup, no phone, and make sure to not drink your potion." She looks at me and nods. I look over at Isaac, "If you feel comfortable Alzir can come along. I know you have a lot to do around here." He also nods then stands.
“Alight Shay, Alzir we have more to talk about so we will be handing to my office,” He looks at me, “Are you coming grandmother?” I shrug,
“Why not.”
“Ivey I’ll send someone to take you to the kitchen and make something you must be hungry.” She nods but then glance a weary look in her mother’s direction, she was still on the couch staying silent. I smile at them then we all leave.
