Barry didn’t loosen his grip for a second. Lucy stumbled behind him, her heels scraping the concrete floor as he pulled her through a narrow hallway lit by one flickering bulb. Workers and dancers parted silently, not daring to interfere. She didn’t stop fighting him. “Let me go!” she snapped, jerking her arm, but his grip only tightened. “Shut up,” he muttered through gritted teeth. The hallway ended at a heavy black door, the back exit. He shoved it open with his shoulder and yanked her out. The cold night air hit her skin, making her realize how warm her blood still was from the fight. Her breathing hadn’t slowed, her chest rising and falling like she was still in the middle of it.
