The car ride isn't as suffocating as inside was, but it's pretty damn close. Ardyn stares out the window as music plays so low he can't make out the words. They don't utter so much as a word. Ardyn's every breath feels too loud in the enclosed space, but he feels as though Kahili wouldn't even turn his head if he screamed. Kahili's eyes glue to the road, expressionless as he grips the steering wheel not unkindly. Defeated. Ardyn startles when they pull into his apartment complex and Kahili asks, "Are you still in heat?" "Huh?" Ardyn responds dumbly. "No—It's okay." Kahili nods.
