Karic listened careful at the door, until he heard no one moving around near Bella’s room. He opened the door and almost jumped out of skin when he came face to face with Bella’s maid.
She opened her mouth to scream but Karic pulled her into the room.
“Shhh,” he said looking at the bed. Bella quickly got out of bed and rushed to her maid.
“Madeline, what…he’s…” she said wrapping her arms around her chest as if she suddenly realized that she was wearing her nightgown in the presence of man who wasn’t her husband.
Karic closed his eyes, groaning inside at his stupid mistake. He didn’t hear her standing there. How did he not hear her?
