Chapter 4

“Just pull up at the gate. The prospect will let us through.” Prospect… oh I'm hoping I’m wrong. Please be wrong.... please! I pulled up to the large automatic gates. A small building right beside them, which was definitely the guard room. A surprisingly clean-shaven, well-groomed looking young man appeared. And yep, unfortunately, he did have a biker's leather vest on as he came out of the guard room and walked over with narrowed eyes. “Let us in, Stalker.” Fire told him as he leaned down, taking me in. Stalker... nice name. Making my mind go in bad directions, that I tried to stop. His eyes snapped to her and widened. “What the f**k?” “Tell dad to meet us around the back with Doc.” She told him. He nodded and practically sprinted back to his little guard room and pressed the button, making the gates open as he pulled out his phone. She directed me to just around the back of the main shed, which was quite imposing up close... especially with all the bikes out the front. I drove past them all and some cars, following the road to the last lot of parking in front of a door with a window beside it. The road had continued on towards other buildings, further down the land. I was surprised to see what seemed to be houses that went quite far back from what I could see now. This small parking area was just around the back, before it turned into an outdoor area with wooden tables and chairs, a fire pit, etc. There was another large building that came off this main shed on the other side… making it like an L shape I would guess. I couldn't help but quickly look around and look at the second story windows in this main shed at the rear, whereas the other building looked to be about three stories. So I’m guessing it could be the sleeping quarters... guessing, because I was definitely not going to ask. I was going to drop Fire off, make sure she was alright and drive away quickly with my head down. I parked the car and quickly got out to open her door and help her out. Just as I opened her door and knelt down, I heard a number of doors crash open. “Don’t be scared of them.” Fire tried to give me a smile. Yeah, now she tells me that. Not that I wouldn’t have brought her back here... I would have, just a bit more begrudgingly. There was no way I was leaving her there or not making sure she was safe. Actually, it was probably a good thing I didn’t know I was going to a biker’s… compound. Isn’t that what they call them? A lot, and I mean a lot of boots, came racing towards us as I tried to calm my heart rate and carefully got Fire out of the car. “Easy. Easy.” The way she was now acting, I was worried about her ribs as well. “What the f**k happened?” Someone roared behind me and I tried not to jump. I moved slowly and gently to hold Fire up, so I could get her inside… whoa… and away from a LOT of angry-looking scary bikers. A man that looked like he was in his sixties with long white hair and beard, was instantly in front of Fire with his hands on her shoulders assessing her face. “Need clean up, back of Macey.” She mumbled with a dejected look. I don’t think it would matter how thick or slow I could be, there was no way anyone would miss that. No one! Not my problem! Not my carousel! I must admit I was kind of proud of her… because I convinced myself that she was jumped, and defended herself, especially due to her emotional state. “You heard her.” He called out and a few ran off after pulling out their phones. A couple of large, and I mean large, well-built men with muscles for days showing from under their t-shirts, stayed. “What the f**k happened?” The man asked again, looking at me now as he took the other side of Fire to help her towards the door being held open. “I don’t know. I saw her coming out an alleyway and quickly pulled over. I tried to take her to the hospital, but she wanted to come here.” He narrowed his eyes at me. “She aint lyin’. It was Jacks... Satans Tribe… was.” She smirked at the end. I didn’t want to think about that too hard. He nodded, his face still showing concern but with a smirk before he looked back at me. “Appreciate it.” I gave him a small smile. “Someone clean the car.” He then called out as we shimmied sideways through the rear door. I did try to let go, but Fire held onto me tight for someone so injured. Shit! Actually, that’s a good point... I didn’t even think about getting blood on the seats. If they don't get it all out, I'll get it detailed and cross my fingers. As expected, the warehouse seemed to be kitted out as we walked into what was definitely the medical room. It was white and sterile with three beds and machines on one side. A desk and lots of cupboards and fridges at the back and more cupboards on the other side with an internal door. “Lay her down, so I can get a proper look.” A man in his mid to late 40s who definitely did NOT look like a biker said as he grabbed things quickly before walking over. He was clean-shaven, short-styled graying brown hair and, once again, broad shoulders. I knew quite a few mothers who would currently be making up some cough that wouldn’t go away for him to ‘examine’. Fire finally let go as she lay on the bed, so I stepped back and stood there awkwardly. The Doc got to work asking her questions as he went. He was definitely a trained professional and knew what he was doing. Her dad was standing back with arms crossed and both rage and concern written all over his face. I definitely didn’t blame him. They got to the “So what happened?” part and all looked at me. “I should go. I hope you’re alright Fire. It was a pleasure meeting you even if it was under bad circumstances. You heal up and take care.” I gave her a big smile, squeezed her hand and went to walk out. “No… please stay.” She said urgently and held my hand tight. My motherly instincts kicked in again... they seem to be a problem today. “OK. I’ll just wait outside then so you can talk in private. I promise I won’t leave.” “Promise?” Oh god, who wouldn’t stay after that look she gave me. It broke my heart even more for her. “Promise. I can even do a pinky promise if you want?” I smirked and held up my pinky finger, making her laugh and wince. “You’re on.” She let go of my hand and stuck her pinky finger out. I laughed, linking our pinkys. “Pinky swear.” We both said with a small laugh… except I didn’t have a wince at the end. “Done. Now, I’ll be out back.” I walked out to find two young men, one in the car leaning over from the drivers side and the other squatting from outside the passenger side, cleaning the car seat. It made me remember... me! I looked down… damn. My t-shirt was covered in blood on the front. I checked my hands and had a little on them but not much. I knew I didn’t have any spare clothes in the car. I wondered how far away a Target or Walmart or something might be. I’m not precious. As long as it’s clean and loose so it doesn’t show my flabby bits, I’m happy. As I looked back at the two very toned young men cleaning my car… yep, I needed to keep the flabby mummy tummy hidden. Thank you very much. I hear my phone ring from the car. I walk over as one of the men sees it, bringing it over to me with a nod. “Thank you!” I see it’s my sister and can’t stop the smile that crosses my face. “No! You said a week. No handing backsey’s!” Are the first words out of my mouth making her laugh.
