It was just another lonely day at the office. By now, I had gotten used to being locked inside here, alone; it had become my prison, and I deliberately stepped into it every day. Sometimes, Martin and Ben would keep me company, but at the end of the day, they each had their own tasks to fulfill.
Ever since my guilt-ridden decision to tell Zahra the truth, she stopped coming by. In a way, I was glad she did; I had tainted her enough. Her proximity was dangerous, for the both of us. Yet I couldn’t deny that I deeply missed her.
For the past three years, she would usually stick around whenever I had paperwork to go over or calls to make. She would even take up some of the work when she felt I was too overloaded. She was amazing, and amidst the chaos of taking over without guidance,
