“I think her name was…Zahra? I heard the other pack members addressing her as Luna.”
I immediately stiffened. My mouth opened, but no words came out. What was I supposed to say?
“Tell her the truth,” Nevan encouraged me. “Our relationship with Zahra was built on lies. We can’t afford to do the same with our mate.”
He had a point. For the past month or so, I had been working on breaking the illusion behind my infatuation with Zahra. I had fought not to see her in a romantic way, and it was working, but…we still had a past together. I couldn’t keep it from my mate. Determined to start this relationship off correctly, I took a deep breath.
“It’s a long story. Can you sit down with me?” I gestured towards the bed again. She nodded in response. “And please, don’t leave.”
