Welcoming The New Daughter-in-law The loud sobs of Anjali's family echoed in the air as Anjali finished her final ritual. After today, she wasn't Anjali Sharma anymore but became Anjali Malhotra. Everyone couldn't help themselves as they looked at their daughter who was now on the verge of starting a new life with a strange family. " Take care of my daughter, Varun ", Mr. Sharma said and Varun nodded his head. Anjali looked at her father and couldn't stop her tears rolling down her cheek. Mr. Sharma immediately embraced her as both father and daughter started to cry their hearts out. Seeing this, everyone else also got emotional and started crying as well. Once all of them settled down, they watched feeling both happy and sad at the same time as Anjali got in the car with Varun and took off to her new home. Mrs. Malhotra was the first one to arrive at the Malhotra mansion since she had to prepare for the welcoming of her new daughter-in-law. " Suman, please prepare the Puja thali and other things necessary for her welcome ", she said to her younger sister, and went to the bathroom to freshenup. It was already six in the morning and, despite being tired and exhausted, she still managed to get everything done. One by one, the others arrived and also helped with the preparations. Varun and Anjali were the last ones to arrive and, being a nice husband, he helped Anjali get out of the car. Carrying her heavy lehenga, Anjali slowly walked towards the entrance. Her make-up is smudged but not ruined by the tears, while the tiredness is evident on her face. Still, she managed to plaster a smile as she was also excited to finally be a part of this family. The newly wed stood up right just outside of the main entrance. " Let no one's evil eyes be on you both of you ", Mrs. Malhotra said and started doing her Aarti. Once she was finished, she handed her Puja Thali to her sister and took the container which had turmeric paste in it. " Now put both of your palms in the turmeric and imprint it on the right wall ", she said to Anjali. Anjali put both of her palms in the paste and dipped them really well to make sure the paste latches to her palm. When she took her hands out of the container, she smiled in satisfaction seeing the yellow color on her palms and fingers and walked towards the right wall. " May Goddess Laxmi bless us with your arrival ", Mrs. Malhotra said as Anjali imprinted her hand print on the wall. Everyone praised and applauded as they saw a nice yellow hand print on the white-colored wall. " Now carefully kick this Kalash (a clay pot filled with rice grains) with your left leg and then step on the container filled with Mahavar (a red dye mixed with water) ", Mrs. Malhotra said and Anjali nodded her head. Lifting her lehenga a bit, she carefully kicked the Kalash and stepped on the container. As she entered the house, the red prints of her feet, seemed as if Goddess Laxmi had entered the house herself. She walked all the way towards the kitchen, leaving the red print on the floor. After she performed her first prayer in the kitchen and then again in Mandir, both of them were excused and taken down to different rooms to sleep and rest. **Goddess Laxmi is the Goddess of wealth and prosperity. It's often regarded or compared as welcoming a new daughter-in-law or welcoming a girl child as the arrival of Goddess Laxmi**
