The sun was busy setting, shining through between the trees like spears of gold, yet the day couldn’t feel any darker. The leaves were cracking underneath my feet as I ran through the dense forest. Trees stood as tall as giants, their bark covered in moss like a badge of honour. I’d always loved the forest, it calmed my soul. Today, and for the past week, it had failed me though. My mate was in pain and I knew it. What I didn’t know was how to fix it. I could feel her grief through the mate bond, along with her overwhelming feeling of failure.
