“I am the princess…blah blah blah…” I mimicked Olivia's voice as I dusted myself off the floor.
It was one thing to steal my spot, but humiliating me was another thing.
Back at home, people would tremble in fear whenever they heard my name.
I quickly mind linked Tasha not to wait up for me, we lived at the mansion in the pack house where betas and gammas lived in perfect harmony, or so Benjamin says. The omegas were rare in our kingdom, here power ruled, anyone who can't shift or is weak didn't deserve a position.
And so, as I was dragging my feet outside the cold afternoon..The dark clouds had covered the sky already, just like other seasons here in Black mist. We rarely had a full day of sun.
I smoothed my leather skirt and removed the gloves, they were partially ripped from the fall Olivia had caused.
I felt humiliated.
As soon as I stepped outside, I saw Beta Simone… a secret hybrid girl who didn't know I knew her little secret.
She met my eyes then turned to run, but I was faster. I caught up to her and pinned her on the wall.
“Running away from me now? Did I hurt you?” I coo'd, wrapping a strand of her ginger hair around my finger.
I gripped on her arm tight enough to secure her.
“I was not running from you, I had things to do for our new Luna.” Simone answered sharply, but I could tell the lie oozing out from her tongue. Maybe she didn't know, but her eyes always changed colours when she lied.
“I need you to do something for me, find out if our new Luna can actually shift. In exchange, I won't tell the alpha your little secret. And you know about his temper, he has zero tolerance for a person of your kind.” I said calmly, sniffing out any lie she may try to give me.
“You mean…I spy? That's even riskier, remember what happened to …you know…” She swallowed hard and stared into my eyes. She held grave fear.
“If that's the case, then I am afraid I will expose you and your heart will be ripped right off your chest.” I said, lazily. I let go of her…making her fall on the ground, but she was fast. She ended up landing on her feet. Classical training.
“If I do this, do not go back on your word.” Simone bit her lip nervously and crossed her arms on her chest.
She leaned on the wall, the same wall that had golden lamps and rose vines on it. Her eyes stared straight into mine, before she finally spoke again.
“Where do you suggest I begin?” She asked.
“Her pack, Red mist, must have some secrets dying to be let loose.” I said, I stuck my hand out and admired my perfect manicures as I narrated the steps.
When we were done, Simone disappeared from my sight…leaving me fully amazed with my amazing plan.
Then, after a few steps… I saw Marcus at the back of the pack house… talking to someone I couldn't quite see. The stranger had a black cloak that covered his face, they stood where it was so dark that you could not even tell there were people there.
I decided to get closer, if I needed some dirty secrets…I'd have to eliminate all forms of fear and ease drop with every chance I get.
But just as I was about to be close, Tasha's voice beamed through. Her mind link came in stronger than intended, making my head throb with an intense pain I always hated.
‘You have to see this… hurry.’
Tasha’s mind link still echoed in my skull like a hammer as I sprinted toward our quarters. Whatever she’d found, it had her panicked.
I burst through the door. Tasha stood by the window, pale, clutching a crumpled piece of paper.
“What is it?” I demanded.
Alpha Smith's pov
“I can't possibly do that, if Alpha Benjamin and Mendoza caught me, they'd kill me. You have to lay low.” Marcus argued, keeping his voice low and secretive.
I rolled my eyes, feeling bored of the whole story.
“I have given you a task, don't you want to see your baby sister again?” I threatened him.
“Yes I do, please I'll do anything.” Marcus pleaded.
I lowered the cloak of my hood so that no one could see me. I was seconds from being discovered.
“Then get me Olivia. Unharmed.” I ordered. I took out a small pearl, threw it on the ground and stepped on it. A magic portal opened, revealing Red mist pack in all it's beautiful glory.
“Do not disappoint me, or else…” I seethed, then disappeared through the portal.
I landed back to the pack, where Lila sat like a pig on the sofa. The food is almost running out, the hunters and designers quit. The pack healers were rioting yesterday, demanding for supplies.
All this is wrecking because Lila had no idea that Harlan kept everything in a safe, not just any safe. A powerful box that could only be opened by Olivia and Harlan, but of course he's dead now .. kissed the ground like lowly alpha he was.
I needed Olivia if I was to access the finances and control.
I stood by the window, looking over the dying land. No f*****g rainfall, no nothing… Just pure doubt like I got cursed by the goddess.
A small, yet soft hand tapped my shoulder.
I turned and came face to face with Lila, her hands were greasy with a bag of chips, goddess knows where she got that junk from…her perfectly dolled face stared at me angrily.
“Are you planning on starving me even today?” She snarled angrily.
“Look at you, you don't look starving at all. Besides, you are aware of the situation. You are the Luna of Red mist pack now, shouldn't you bring prosperity and wealth in this land? You are so weak and pathetic, as if you have no Anderson bloodline in you.” I snapped, taking a step away from her before I did something foolish.
“I didn't become Luna so that I could work, I don't owe anyone luxury but myself.” She said, clenching her jaw tightly. She furrowed her eyebrows and turned her back on me.
I ran a hand through my hair and walked towards her. I held her shoulders lightly and turned her around.
“We won't archive anything by blaming each other, so let's just try to get that f*****g safe open and then figure out what happens next. “ I said calmly.
Just as she smiled, I let go of her and passed by her like she meant nothing. She didn't.
“Where are you going?” She asked. Her voice was low and worried.
“To get myself an orgasm.”
I didn’t wait for Lila’s whiny little protest to finish echoing down the hall. Her voice grated like nails on rusted metal, it was always demanding and never earning. I slammed the door behind me hard enough to rattle the framed portraits of dead Alphas who actually knew how to lead instead of leech.
The corridor was dim, lit only by flickering sconces that cast long shadows like the ones creeping over this entire cursed pack.
My boots thudded against the stone floor as I headed straight for the west wing, where the few remaining unmated females were kept “available” for the higher ranks. Not that any of them were worth more than a quick release these days. The good ones had either fled or been broken long ago.
I shoved open the door to Room 7 without knocking. Inside, a slim brunette, her name was Clara, maybe..I didn't care enough to find out..she was scrambled up from the bed, clutching the sheet to her chest like it would protect her from me. Her eyes were wide, pupils blown with that delicious mix of fear and forced submission. Good. Fear kept things honest.
“Alpha,” she breathed, dropping her gaze to the floor the way she’d been trained. “I...I wasn’t expecting...”
“Shut up.” I crossed the room in two strides, grabbed her by the jaw, and tilted her face up. Her skin was soft, unmarked and completely boring. “On your knees. Now.”
She obeyed instantly, the sheet pooling around her waist. Pathetic how fast they folded. I unbuckled my belt with one hand, the metal clinking like a warning shot. No foreplay, no sweet words...those were for weaker men who needed to trick females into spreading their legs. I didn’t trick. I took.
As she worked on my c**k, I let my mind drift back to Olivia. Sweet, Olivia with her pure Anderson blood and that sealed safe full of Red Mist’s dwindling fortune.
Once I had her here, collared and compliant, I’d make her open it. Then I’d drain every last coin, rebuild the pack under my rule, and discard her like yesterday’s trash. Maybe I’d let Marcus watch..just to remind him who held his sister’s life in his hands.
A low growl rumbled in my chest as Clara’s mouth faltered for a second. I fisted her hair tighter, yanking her forward until she gagged. “Don’t stop. You think your comfort matters? You exist for this. For me.”
Tears streaked down her cheeks, her moans filled the room, she kept going. They always did.
When I finished, I shoved her back onto the bed without a word. She curled into herself, trembling, but I was already zipping up, already bored. The release had been mechanical, empty. Nothing compared to the thrill of breaking someone who actually mattered.
I left her there without a backward glance and stalked back toward my quarters. Lila would be waiting, probably sulking on the couch with chip crumbs on her t**s, ready to beg for scraps of attention. Let her beg. I’d make her earn every bite of food from now on..on her knees, same as the rest.
As I rounded the corner, my phone buzzed in my pocket. A message from Marcus.
“She’s guarded. Simone says the Black Mist wolves are watching her closely....Beta Mendoza to be specific. I will need more time.”
I smirked, typing back with cold precision.
*“Time’s a luxury you don’t have. Bring her to me in 48 hours, or I start sending pieces of your sister back to you. Start with her fingers. She won’t need them.”*
I hit send and pocketed the device. The thought of Olivia’s terror, her inevitable realization that no one was coming to save her, sent a dark thrill through me. Power wasn’t just about wealth or land. It was about owning someone so completely they forgot they ever had a choice.
I pushed open the door to my chambers. Lila was there, exactly as I’d pictured...sprawled on the chaise, mascara smudged from fake tears, clutching an empty chip bag like a lifeline.
“You took your time,” she snapped, but her voice cracked at the end.
I crossed to her slowly, letting her see the fresh scratches on my neck from Clara’s nails. Lila’s eyes flicked to them, then away, jealousy flashing before she could hide it.
“Jealous?” I drawled, looming over her. “You should be. At least Clara knows how to keep her mouth useful.”
Lila’s lip trembled. “You’re disgusting.”
“And you’re useless.” I grabbed her wrist, yanking her to her feet. She stumbled into me, and I caught her chin the same way I’d caught Clara’s so hard, bruising her skin....“But lucky for you, I’m in a generous mood. Strip. If you make me come harder than the omega b***h just did, maybe I’ll let you eat tomorrow.”
Her eyes filled with humiliated tears, but she reached for the hem of her shirt anyway. Because she knew the alternative. Because in Red Mist, under my rule, survival meant submission.
I intended to make sure every last one of them learned that lesson...starting with the princess who thought she could replace me.
"If I hunt Olivia for you, will you give me 50% of the shares? She's my cousin after all."
