Chapter 8

1390 Words
Olivia Anderson She waited patiently by the big window, she waited for something that would probably never come. Her will to accept this new life. As she caressed her hand on her now flat tummy, she had no choice but to accept her new fate ...Her new cruel life. She couldn't understand why her emotions where pulling her towards Benjamin, a man cruel enough to make her pay for her father's sins...But soft enough to flinch when she has not had a meal. The cold wind blew her black silky hair that seemed to blend well through the night. The moon loomed above, glittering like a ball. Her pup was gone, her throne and her dignity. "Oh father, why did things have to end this way?" She said, wiping a tear off her cheek. She pulled herself off the window and turned, her eyes widened when she came face to face with Benjamin. He had a tray of hot steaming tea and a small smile on his face. "I thought you'd still be up, would you like some tea? It's specially brewed by the best chef in the pack." He said, his deep husky voice sending shivers down her spine. She looked at him with a suspicious look, before talking a few steps towards him and crossing her arms on her chest, her gaze went up to meet his beautiful sexy eyes. "Why are you being nice to me?" She simply asked, her face was firm. "Because you're my Luna now...I am doing this for the pack...For the sake of my people." Benjamin said, he avoided her gaze this time as he laid the tray on the small table beside her bed. "Right, it's all about duty for the cruel alpha the world fears." She sighed. She hated him, but she could not quiet figure why she expected more than duty from him. Could it be the mate bond doing it's thing? "I once had a mate....Elara Parker. I have a vow to keep my heart only for her. You and I may have shared a mate bond now, but it simply means nothing. Because I never break my promises." Benjamin's voice turned cold. He put his hands in his pocket and stared at her lazily, he was trying to mask the sharp pain he felt inside his chest. Denying himself the ability to seal the mate bond was something far more dangerous than he thought. "I am not asking you for anything." Olivia said calmly. She picked the cup of tea and took a few sips. Then, her hands began to glow faintly. She let out a small gasp, so did Benjamin. "What's happening? " Her voice trembled, as she scanned her hands to see what was wrong. Benjamin walked closer to her and touched her hands, he scanned her carefully. Before he spoke, he made sure to study what was actually going on. "This tea was made with the special ingredient...The moon tree roots. It holds special powers to reveal any hidden poison or negative spell cast upon anyone. In my territory, we make this tea to make sure we stay intact and healthy so avoid being poisoned. But you.....the way your body has reacted to this, it shows you had been poisoned." He said carefully, his eyes locked into hers. This ran a cold shiver down her spine. She swallowed hard as she saw the glow fade slowly and burn her chest. "Shouldn't I be dead if I was poisoned?" She said, her voice shaking. "This can't be like any ordinary poison, it's a slow acting poison that destroys you slowly without even knowing." He said, he touched her cheek softly.. He didn't intend to, but he felt the urge to know what was wrong with his new luna. "From what I can see ...You were poisoned slowly since you were 15." He said, finally pulling away from her in two steps backwards. Olivia gasped again, she felt her knees buckle and her skin sweat. She tried to jog her memory on who would do such a thing. She tried mind linking her friends back in red mist territory, but they all blocked her. She couldn't believe it. "I don't understand....I am a princess, my food was always carefully handled. Chef tasters lined up to make sure I don't get poisoned, my father made sure of it...He was the only one close enough to me...Unless...." She gasped again, her mouth widened. "Unless what?" Benjamin asked softly. He sat next to her on the bed, and touched her hand in comfort. He could smell her sweet scent, it made his wolf draw closer to her ..and his Jaguar spirit growl in anger...His spirits were at war within themselves. "Unless he is the one who did this to me..." She said, a tear finally fell down her cheek. As stubborn as she was, she hated been seen as a cry baby. She despised the thought of being labelled weak. Benjamin cleared his throat lightly, shifting in his seat before she spoke again...Softer this time. "I think I know a way you can find some answers. That is...if you are willing." He said calmly. "Why should I trust you?" She said, wrinkling her nose in disgust...She just wanted to push him away. But deep down, she was scared . Scared that she won't make it because of a slow Poison she never knew existed in her body. Benjamin moved closer to her, held her chin and pulled her face closer to his gently. Her heart pounded so hard against her chest. His scent filled his nostrils. He was irresistible and handsome. "Be ready by dawn," He said smoothly. Her wolf purred inside of her as he ordered her. Her feelings were sky rocketing. This was impossible. She couldn't fall for anyone anymore or so she thought. Just as they were about to kiss, a loud howl echoed outside. Shaking the walls and the chandelier. Benjamin paused and rolled his eyes exasperated. "Marcus, this better be good." He said, he quickly stood up and stared at Olivia lovingly. He tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear, "It's late. I have a few things to check on. Be a good girl and be ready by dawn." He said, then left. Olivia threw her back on the soft bed. It bounced softly like it was made of water. She didn't know what Benjamin was going to check, what he was going to do when the sun goes up or who actually wanted her dead. She signed then looked to her side, the hot cup of steaming tea steaming into the air. "Oh goddess, give me answers ..Who did this to me?" She asked calmly, but there was no answer. She flinched when she heard another, louder howl outside. This time, she was tempted to check what was happening outside. She wanted to mind her own business, because whatever happened in black mist pack wasn't her problem to deal with...But she was one curious wolf. She got up and looked outside the window, she saw a beautiful she wolf hugging Benjamin. Olivia felt her heart sting, how could he be hugging another wolf when he was just in her room. When she was just starting to warm up to him. Olivia turned and covered herself in the bed sheets, blocking every sound with her pillow. "What a f**k boy...is this what he does? Make me feel something then bring some she wolf over?" Olivia argued with herself. 'But you were rejecting him, do you like him? I knew it....' Chloe, my wolf purred. "Shut up Chloe, I don't like him " I denied. 'Oh yeah, then go I dare you to prove it.. Look at you blushing and steaming all because he hugged some wolf...' Chloe teased. I groaned and shut her off. She had a way of pissing me off. "I hate him, how can I even like him...He's just being an ass... Okay he's nice...cute...no no...he is hot and steaming..." Olivia spoke to herself. She felt like a kid again, debating against her own body. She took off the sheets and stared at the ceiling, and then her blood began to boil and rush through her veins... She felt her thought tighten at each passing second. "Help...!" She screamed weakly.
