Erik “She’s a gold digger!” Eugene exclaimed later that evening. All of the guests had left, and I was seated on the armchair in their smaller living room with a cup of coffee. Lisa and Eugene were seated across from me, and it was late. “It most certainly sounds like it,” Lisa agreed, and I sighed. “She seems pretty great…honestly,” I said. “And the more I listened to her, the more I realized that she spoke a lot about her finances and how she wished she could get a break…it made me feel uncomfortable,” “You know, it isn’t until now that I realize she has done the same thing to me. Her brother too…they are nice and friendly people…” her voice trailed off as she glanced over at Eugene. “I didn’t think too much of it when they kept borrowing money,” Eugene’s eyes went wide in surprise
