My stomach had flipped when Jason texted me. I didn’t reply right away as I stared at the screen. I didn’t reply until I had everything in place. I picked a local park for us to meet, and I asked Nico if he would be close by if I needed him. Nico agreed. I also told Rosa about it, and while she believed I was making a mistake, she agreed to join Nico. I wanted backup. Not because I thought Jason was dangerous, but because I wanted him to know that I didn’t trust him.
