Raven’s words hung in the air between them, the weight of everything they had been through settling in Damien’s chest. “He said anger,” Damien muttered, his voice low. “A part of him was irate that I left him. But he also said he didn’t think he would be accepted since he was a rogue.” His jaw clenched, tension radiating from his body. Raven reached out, smoothing her hand over his chest in slow, soothing strokes.
