Agent James Derringer entered the building and threw greetings around, he was in a foul mood but knew he couldn't let it show around here. So he wore a bright smile and tried his best to sound cheerful. He walked upstairs towards the colonel's office and was told by Dorothy that the boss was not in, he had something to do at Langley and had flown there early this morning. Agent Derringer took the information in and thought how best he could maximize the colonel's absence, especially with Dodd suspended. He turned around to leave, then looked back and told Dorothy, "please let the colonel know I was in to see him when he returns, I'm going to see how my 'new job' is faring," he said with a grin and then walked out of the office, with a look of consternation on Dorothy's face.
