Chapter 19

Damien

As we sat in the kitchen while the chief answered the door we heard a scuffle. We all got up to see the chief on the floor knocked out and men standing in the door wearing masks. Liam and I growled and were about to shift when a blinding light and searing pain took over. “Wolfs bane” I chocked out. Immediately myself, Liam, Marcus and Megan drop to the floor in pain. The men came in and grabbed us dragging us outside into a covered truck where more men were at. They tied us up, As I lifted my head to look outside and try to wiggle my way to there, I saw Scarlet taking on a couple warriors protecting her mom. She was hit from behind and knocked out, Everyone placed in the truck our hands and feet bound together. We couldn’t mindlink as the wolfs bane knocked our wolves out as well. “Vanessa?” Liam croaked out softly to me. “Don’t worry little wolf we will get her once we finish with you. We have big plans for her.” The sound of his voice and what he said sent chills down my spine. I tried to stay awake but soon darkness won.

         We awoke when our bodies hit dirt. Groaning I looked up and saw we were in the middle of the jungle in a clearing lit up by torches. We were pulled to the center still very weak from the wolfs bane that was in our system. We were placed on our knees in a line. A man walked towards with an Aztec mask over his face. I didn’t what it was or what it meant. “Welcome. Welcome to your last night on this earth.” Who are you? Why are you doing this? The chief said with a commanding tone. “Isn’t it obvious? I want to be chief and need to kill you for it. I also want to be king and need Vanessa at my side to take over the other tribes and then soon the wolf packs as well. Make them like our pets. But to get Vanessa to submit I have to make her weak, wolf and warrior. By killing those closest to her I kill her wolf and her warrior becomes weak.” He said squatting down meeting us all at eye level. “You can not do this the balance will be disturbed the Gods will not have it.” The chief said. “The gods have abandoned us. Do you think they still listen or even care? They didn’t listen or care when I pleaded with them not to take my families life. I was never granted any powers to help protect those I love. No the gods are dead, no man will stand between me and what I want not even the gods.” “Eddie? I did not expect this from you.” Scarlet said. He took off the mask and showed his face. “Let me guess you expected maybe Carlos?” He looked to the left and carlos was thrown on to the ground bound in rope too. “Carlos is too much of a follow the commands warrior to plot this and carry out. We both worked hard but because he sucked up to you and his family you awarded him the highest warrior status, you promised Vanessa to him even though she despises him. She was supposed to be with me. And now after all of you are dead and same with him she will be.” He wore a smug smile. “You kill her mate, you kill her as well.” Liam said. He shook his head. “You see I kill the pretty boy and her wolf will die, apart of her may die as well but her warrior is strong enough to not let he die completely. I will hold her and love her and make sure she forgets all about you. You took what was mine and now I’m taking it back.” He snarled at me. He straighten and shift to his warrior was standing before us. “Shall we begin? Would anyone like to go first? No Guess ill just start with the Mate.” He walked toward me with a machete in hand. He brought up over head and Brought it down. “I will!” I opened my eyes and saw the blade 3 inches above my head. I looked to the sound and there was Vanessa Standing at the edge of the clearing.

Vanessa

I stood in the dark watching and hearing everything. This is where my fate will be decided. I linked to the alpha wolf. “If I fall please help get my family away. Do not let them stand and fight. I will kill him even if it means I end my life as well.” No answer but I heard him shift in the tress near by.

         As soon as I saw the blade go I stepped forward. “I will” I yelled. Eddie turned around. “Fight me, warrior on warrior. You win I will submit to you, wolf and warrior. I win You give up your warrior.” He scoffed. “You have the power of a wolf and a god. I will not fight you.” I thought for a min. I looked to the moon. “If the wolf god takes away those powers will you then fight me?” He stared at me into my soul. “Yes”

         I grounded my feet, closed my eyes. I felt myself being drawn into my head. I saw a light coming towards me. A man dressed as a Warrior walked toward me with a beautiful woman beside him. “You have need of us?” I quickly nodded. I knew it was the wolf god who blessed me with my warrior and the moon goddess, mother of all wolves. I bowed to them as the neared. “I need my powers gone so I can fight for my family. I will gladly lay my life down for them but he will not fight me.” They looked at each other. “You forfeit your wolf and your warrior for your family? No one has ever done that.” I shook my head “I don’t care what others have wanted, I know what I want. I want them gone so I can save my family.” “We know you offered these to him if you lose. We will put a block on them for you not use them. You must win!” They each touched my chest and my head, I heard my warrior and wolf both quite down until it was just my thoughts alone. I bowed my head, and soon I was back in my body again. “They are gone, The wolf god and moon goddess took them. Now will you fight me?” I said to Eddie. He smirked. Turning his back to my family he stalked closer. He tossed a Macuahuitl at my feet. “We fight the ancient way” He said turning towards me. I picked it up and swung it around. Weighing it properly. I wasn’t going to be able to bring my warrior forward, everything was going to be off of memory and skill.

         We circled each other waiting for the first one to attack. “Remain calm, never jump to be the first. When you react too quick to make mistakes and that how you lose.” I heard my mothers teachings in my head. “You can sense when and where they will move and their next strike. You must be calculated, precise, and perfect. In the art of war the winner is the only one who walks away alive.” My grandfathers words as well. I took a deep breath as I sensed his feet about to move. He yelled a cry and came at me. I dodged his swings and blocked him as I could. “Let them keep attacking to tire them out. They will lose their energy long before you” I heard her voice again. Attack after attack, block and dodge one after another. “What’s the matter princess afraid to see what fighting is really all about?” He said. He stalked toward me again pulling back to swing at me, I ducked as it past by my head. His arm crossed his body as I took my shot to his midsection. I slashed him but nothing deep, He stumbled back as I kept the attack. He was able to block or dodge about half my attempts to hurt him. When our weapons crashed together and the obsidian shattered. We Threw them to the side. He came at me with punches and kicks. I slid around him kicked his knee to make him fall and wrapped my arms around his neck, He tried to get free, moving and shifting his weight trying to pry me off. It was no use. “Submit. Don’t make me kill you.” I said keeping a tight grip. He shook his head as he coughed. I adjust my grip as I felt him slip unconscious. I let go. I got up and ran to my family to untie them. Before I could I was thrown backwards. I landed and rolled feeling the pain everywhere. I looked up to see Eddie standing there, eyes glowing. Aztec symbols all on his body. “You will not stop what is to come. You think you can win? You can not stop the dark.” He reached for my grandfather lifted him to stand. I stood up and ran toward them, another blast knocked me backward. I felt my side becoming wet and realized I was bleeding. “Please wolf god give me back my warrior.” I sat up to watch as the blade he was holding pierced the neck of my grandfather. My world slowed down, his face was blank as he fell to his knees, bleeding out. The screams from my grandmother and mom became muffled. I was a little girl again lost in the jungle. I felt a power surge through me as I stared at the dead eyes of my grandfather. I stood, and felt myself change. I knew I was gifted my warrior back. His back was to me. I ran grabbing the blade and He turned as I plunged it into his chest. But not before himself stabbing me. “Looks like I win, you killing me, I kill you. They…will kill… your family.” He sentence was broken. “Not in this life time.” As they walked towards my family the Alpha wolf came out and attacked them. I grabbed the blade and forced it deeper. “I was never yours, I belong to the wolf god.” He Laughed with his last breathe. I fell to the ground and stared at the moon. I felt my family around me and looked at them all. I didn’t feel like talking, just laying there staring at the moon. I saw the wolf god and moon goddess, and the chief there. Holding their hands out to me to follow. I smiled. “He made it to the gods side” I said in my head. I closed my eyes.

“where am I?” It was bright and warm. Like when laying in a meadow under the shinning sun. “The after life my daughter. Where you are meant to be.” I heard a mans Voice. “Daughter?” I looked around and saw the wolf god come towards me. I was in my warrior form watching him as he walked toward me. “Yes, daughter. The moon Goddess and yourself are my daughters. Selene created the wolves from my likeness and you were put on the earth to help protect and fight for them. Each time you are needed you are born into a different life. To fulfill your greatness, and protect the wolves in times of great need. You are my greatest warrior which why I chose you to be the one to walk among the wolves. You will stay there with your mate and fulfill your job as Luna, but now you will be awarded your memories. To help and guide you. You are able to call on us for any reason. When its time for you to pass on, you will be born again into another life.” I looked at him as he smiled. I shook my head. “No. I don’t want the cycle to continue. I want to live in the after life with my mate. Pass my gifts to my next of kin. My pup I’ll bare.” Selene walked toward me now. “You will never not be the wolf warrior, you off spring will need you for guidance. You will be pulled out of the after life when called upon.” I nodded. “To me that is better then this vicious cycle.” They looked at each other and nodded. Wolf god hugged me, which to be honest I wouldn’t think a god would hug even his child. Selene did as well. They both ended with putting their hands on my chest and I felt myself leaving this place being forced back into my body.
